    Expression  of  Interest  –  Assistant  Coach  

Perth  Inferno  Ice  Hockey  Club  are  seeking  expressions  of  interest  for  the  key  role  of  Assistant  Coach  
for  the  upcoming  2020/2021  Australian  Women’s  Ice  Hockey  league  season.  

The  role  of  the  Assistant  Coach  is  to  provide  support  for  the  head  coach  regarding  athlete  
development,  as  well  as  overseeing  team  tryouts,  team  trainings  and  home  and  away  games  during  
the  2020/2021  season.  This  is  a  volunteer  role  and  requires  coordinating  with  the  committee,  Team  
Manager  and  Head  Coach.  

Role:  
The  Assistant  Coach  is  responsible  for:  

• Assisting  the  Head  coach  with  player  development,  and  creating  an  effective  training  
environment  to  support  team  performance  
• Supporting  the  Head  coach  with  the  promotion  and  development  of  a  strong  and  unified  
culture  that  sets  the  example  for  the  club  as  a  whole  
• Working  with  the  Head  Coach  in  developing  and  maintaining  strong  relationships  with  the  
club  committee,  ensuring  they  are  briefed  on  key  strategies,  activities,  travel,  and  issues  
• Providing  players  regular  feedback  to  develop  and  reach  their  goals  
• Working  closely  with  the  team  manager  and  head  coach  to  compete  in  both  home  and  
away  rounds,  including  completion  of  post  trip  reports  

Responsible  to:  
The  Assistant  Coach  is  responsible  to  the  Head  Coach    
 
Knowledge,  Skills,  Experience  and  Requirements:  

• Have  previous  coaching  experience,  ideally  at  a  senior  level  


• Have  a  strong  ability  to  plan  and  implement  training  and  competition  programs  
• Ability  to  motivate  and  inspire  players  and  assist  them  in  striving  towards  their  goals
• Have  effective  communication  and  interpersonal  skills  including  the  ability  to  interact  
positively  with  the  Perth  Inferno  club,  committee  members,  officials,  athletes  and  
supporters  
• Be  a  positive  role  model  on  and  off  the  ice  
• Up  to  date  Working  with  Children  Check  or  the  ability  to  obtain  one  
 
Applicants  should  hold  a  Level  1  IHA  Coaching  accreditation  

A  panel  of  committee  members  as  well  as  the  Head  Coach  will  select  the  Assistant  Coach  role.
