1.0 Purpose:
The purpose of these specifications is to assure acceptable finish quality, consistent with
commercial practices, that will result in the most reliable outdoor service for the equipment.

This specification shall apply to any parts where drawings or parts lists note it as a requirement.
2.1.1 Cleaning

2.1.2.1 Applied by the immersion method, minimum coating weight shall be 300
MG/sq. ft.
2.1.2.1 Applied by the spray method, minimum coating weight shall be 150 MG/sq. ft.

Parts constructed from mill zinc-coated steel shall be prepared by immersing in an etching

2.3.1 Etching solution consists of 1 part (by vol.) Prezaink-B (Industrial Chemical
Products Co.) & 3 parts water (by volume).
2.3.2 Parts shall be immersed for 30-40 seconds.

3.1 No primer is required for the polyester powder paints specified in Table II.

4.1 A uniform coat of the approved material (see Table II) shall be applied over the
external surfaces.

4.2 The average dry film thickness for ten random measurements on the unit shall be

5.1 Oil filled tanks shall have a uniform coat of approved material (see Table II)
over prepared internal surfaces unless otherwise specified on product drawing.

5.2 Control cabinets shall have a uniform coat of approved material (see Table II)
over prepared internal surfaces unless otherwise specified on product drawing.
Interior surfaces of control cabinets and non-oil filled tanks shall have an
average dry film thickness for ten random measurements on a unit of 2.5 mil
with a minimum dry film thickness of 1.5 mil.

7.0 General:
Materials from the different sources of supply shall not be mixed in any combination
except as noted on the approved materials tables.

* A minimum drying time of 5 minutes is required for the Sanford marker prior to
immersing marker material in oil. Apply as thin as marking bead as possible.
