Measurement of DC Winding Resistance

Measuring the resistance of transformer windings assures that each circuit is wired properly and that all connections
are tight. Transformer winding resistance measurements are obtained by passing a known DC current through the
winding under test and measuring the voltage drop across each terminal (Ohm's Law).

Connection Diagram:

Primary Winding Secondary Winding

Test Procedure:

1. All busbar connections were removed from the terminals of the transformer.
2. Measurement settings were verified according to the test requirements.
3. Measurement was started from the tap no 1 to no 17 and the tap was changed manually/Automatically.
4. Connection was given according to the above connection diagram.
5. DC voltage was supplied.
6. Assessment was conducted & the result was recorded automatically in the CPC 100.

Comment:
The ratio deviation from each adjacent winding is less than 1% at the same tap. So, the specimen has
passed the test that assures the integration of the transformer’s windings, tap changer, and internal
connections.
As the original factory test report couldn’t be found, so the comparison between factory test report &
pre-commissioning test report cannot be done.
