I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of : African
literature as a means of exploring forces that human beings
contend with; various reading styles vis-vis purposes of
reading; prosodic features that serve as carriers of meaning;
ways by which information may be organized, related, and
delivered orally; and parallel structures and cohesive devices
in presenting information.
B. Performance The learner transfers learning by: composing and delivering
Standards an informative speech based on a specific topic of interest
keeping in mind the proper and effective use of parallel
structures and cohesive devices and appropriate prosodic
features, stance and behaviour.

2. Why is it important to know our own culture,
traditions and values as Filipinos to further establish
our identity as Asians?

African countries? Why or why not?

1. As you go along with the group reading, do volume,
projection, pitch, stress, intonation, juncture, and rate
of speech affect the meaning of the words found in
the essay? Why do you say so?

Analysis (7 minutes)
 Let the students present their answers.
 Let them explain how they arrived with their answers.
 Process the students’ answer with emphasis on
informative speech, parallel structure and cohesive
device

Abstraction (10 minutes)


 Define informative speech and explain its purpose
 Discuss the importance of using parallel structure in
writing an informative speech.
 Elaborate the importance of using cohesive devices
in writing a composition
 Summarize the prosodic features of speech and
their importance when delivering speech.

Application (8 minutes)
Give me the Microphone
• Divide the class into (4) groups).
• Instruct the learners to choose a representative for
each round of the game.
• The teacher projects a question on the screen.
• The representatives will have to race to the front to
get the golden microphone. The one who gets the golden
microphone will be given the chance to answer.
• The representative will have to answer the question.
• The group who gets the highest points will be the
winner.
Ask the students to take note of the corresponding points for
each round. Round 1 (2 pts.), round 2 (3 pts.) round 3 (4pts.),
round 4 (5pts.) round 5 (6pts.)

C. Culminating
