On this lesson I learned a bit about angular modulation, where in the amplitude of the carrier is
kept constant while the angle or the argument of the carrier is varied in accordance with the signal.
There are two kinds of angular modulation, these are Frequency Modulation and Phase Modulation.
Frequency modulation is where the frequency carrier is varied with the instantaneous value of the
signal, frequency modulation has a carrier and an infinite number of sidebands.

Phase modulation is a modulation pattern for conditioning communication signals for


transmission. It encodes a message signal as variations in the instantaneous phase of a carrier wave. The
phase of a carrier signal is modulated to follow the changing signal level (amplitude) of the message
signal. The peak amplitude and the frequency of the carrier signal are maintained constant, but as the
amplitude of the message signal changes, the phase of the carrier changes correspondingly.
