Dear Mr.

Smith,

I hope you are well. I am writing this letter to solicit your help with a matter that is of great
importance (imperative) to me on a personal level. Last night, I received an urgent call from my sister
who informed me that my mother had a bad fall. Because my mother now has a broken hip, I need to
move back home to Beirut, Lebanon as soon as possible so that I can assist her at home. Thankfully, the
doctor assured me that my mother will be better in six months and so I will only need to more from
London to Beirut for that period of time.
With the advancement of technology, it will surely be feasible for me to work remotely with no
trouble. Of course, I will set-up my email account on my phone and on my laptop so that I can quickly
respond to any communication I receive. Moreover, I will be able to participate in all company meetings
through the use of Skype and conference calls.
Finally, could I ask for your kind assistance in helping me arrange this temporary move? To that
end, would you please contact Mr. Firth the Beirut office manager? I have already explained to him my
situation, but if would be helpful of you to mention how easy it would be for me to work seamlessly
from Beirut for the next six months.

Thank you for your help.

Sincerely,
Pamela

Dear Fred,

How are you? How are Pam and the kids? I know that you’re considering going back to college
after all these years. Although I know you would succeed at college, you and I are no longer spring
chickens. In fact, we are getting on in years and college is no longer what it used to be. Nowadays,
everything is based on technology and because of this, learning is extremely fast paced. Moreover, if
you join an undergraduate class now, you will be even older than the professor teaching you.
Actually, I believe that if you are unhappy at your current job at the real estate agency, you
should look for a new one. With your years of experience, getting a new job should be a cinch.
Moreover, since Pam is pregnant, I don’t think that it’s the right time to leave your current job to pursue
a degree in Biology. Perhaps you feel the need to make this sudden change from employee to university
student since you are feeling stressed about your future.
As you have more than twenty years of experience in real estate, you qualify for many different
jobs. I think you would excel as a real estate consultant. You could also teach new agents how to be
successful at selling apartments. Another job you would excel at is to be a real estate company manger.
Fred, please don’t let all the experience you have acquired over the years go to waste because
of a rash decision. Still, let’s meet up to discuss this. Please send my regards to Pam and the kids.

All my love,
Judy
