THUNDERBIRD (POP3 & SMTP OVER SSL)

To configure Thunderbird to send and receive email using our servers via POP3 and SMTP over SSL/TLS, please follow the steps below. Please replace:

username@example.com with your email address

your_server.com with your server's host name (you can find your server's host name listed in the upper left corner of your Control Panel)

1. Open Thunderbird.

2. Choose "Tools" -> "Account Settings".

3. Click "Account Actions" -> "Add Mail Account..."

4. In the "Your Name" field you should enter the name you would like to appear on the messages you send. Enter your email address user@example.com
in the "Email address" field. Enter your mail password in the "Password" field. Mark the "Remember password" check-box.

Click on the "Continue" button.

5. Thunderbird is going to perform some checks (this might take some time). Click "Manual config" when they are complete.

6. Make sure that the Incoming mail server is set to "POP3".

Change the incoming mail server to "mail.your_server.com".

Change the port for the incoming server to 995.

Change "STARTTLS" to "SSL/TLS" for the incoming server.

Change the outgoing mail server to "mail.your_server.com".

Be sure to list your full email address as username for the outgoing email server.

Click "Done".

7. Click "Re-test" to have Thunderbird verify your settings again. Click "Done" when the test is complete.

You may miss some e-mail messages if you use POP3 to access a mailbox that has SpamAssassin enabled for it. Please read our Possible issues
