LESSON PLAN FOR DEVELOPMENTAL READING

I. LEARNIG OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson, the pupils able to:

1. Identify signal words used in text


2. Organize and gather information in a sequential text
3. Create original sequential text

REFERENCE: google.com.ph, English 2 textbook

MATERIALS:

 informational articles, cut apart into sections or sentences


 printed pictures
 highlighters
 glue
 paper
 chart paper
 visual aids

A. Preparatory Activity

B. Motivation

 Produce the sequencing lesson and gain students' attention, the teacher can tell a silly "out-
of-order story about her morning routine before school.
 Lead into a conversation about the importance of putting events in order.
 Produce the concept of sequencing
C. DISCUSSION

Ask students to write a flash paragraph detailing what they did that morning before school.
Share, pointing out the sequential order of events and transition/signal words used

Tell students they will be learning about sequence of events in informational text.

Discussion Question:

o When do writers put events in a sequential order?


o How does ordering events help readers?
o What types of text use sequencing?

D. Activity

 Give partner pairs or individually the pictures that have been cut apart into sections and
placed in envelopes.
 Using the paper and glue, instruct students to work together to reassemble the pictures
into the proper sequence, using signal words to help guide them.
 Circulate throughout the room to assist students and check for understanding.
 Share work when complete.
 Have students use highlighters to find signal words. Create a class list of words on chart
paper.
