• Inputs used as backgrounds have no scaling

• Multiple inputs can be combined for widescreen
backgrounds
• Backgrounds can mix from one to another
• They do not use any mixing layer resources
• Backgrounds can* be used as “inputs”

• Background sources can be used to define the CANVAS
for a given Destination
• BG Sources must be Edge-Butted. No support for pre-

 What is an Auxilliary (AUX)?

•  It is a single screen output

•  Cannot be assigned any mixing layers
•  Any input, destination or still store can
go to the Aux.
•  Sources will be scaled to the resolution
defined in the AUX
•  On the same setup you can have
Destinations and Auxes.
•  A “cut” only transition between sources
•  Example: down stage monitor (DSM) is
an auxiliary.

 What is a Multiviewer?

• An output that allows you to see

your inputs and outputs on one
(or many) displays
• Operator uses Previews to set
up a video look before sending
it to Program (Destinations)
• User can design the layout of
the windows

• Two scalers tied together in mixing mode to create a layer

or “PIP”
• Always a channel available in Preview
• No resource conflicts
• Can always transition seamlessly
• Up to 16 Mixing Layers
• Cannot blend more than four screens
• Cannot assign more than 8 layers to one Destination
• User assignable
• A Destination must have at least ONE Mixing or Single
Layer for PIP’s or to mix between different resolutions
