The charts below demonstrate the water consumption of various sectors in Sydney
over a period from 1997 to 2007.
As can be seen from the pie charts that it is apparent that the food production
consumed the largest amount of the total water expenditure while among the four
areas, building industry made up the smallest propotion.
During a decade, despite a slight decline of 3%, from 48% in 1997 to 44% in 2007,
food prodution still remained the first place in the water usage. The year 2007 also
witness a decrease by 2% in the water allocated for buiding industry.
On the other hand, the remaining sectors experienced a minimal rise in the
porpotion of water consumption. Household use accounted for one third of the
total water used, increased 2% after 10 years. This was followed by the bulding
industry whose porpotion was cut down to 3% and ranked the last place.
