Fiber & yarn standard

This standard is a compilation of terminology developed by Committee


D13.58 on Yarns and Fibers.
Labeling

 This terminology provides a uniform language for the disclosure of


care instructions on labels that are to be attached to apparel, textile,
home furnishing, and leather products.
Air permeability Test Methods

 Air permeability is an important factor in the performance


of such textile materials as gas filters, fabrics for air bags,
clothing, mosquito netting, parachutes, sails, tent age, and
vacuum cleaners.
Chemical and Thermal Properties

 The thermal resistance of fabric system is considerable


importance in determining its suitability for use.
Glass Fiber and its Products

 Glass fiber have a variety of general uses under specific conditions,


such as high physical or chemical stress, high temperature etc.
UV Protective Fabrics

 This practice leads to measurement of the residual level of


UV-protection in fabrics or garments labeled as sun- or UV-
protective.
Flammability

 All fabrics made of natural or regenerated cellulose, as well


as many made from other natural or man-made fibers, are
combustible.
