This document gives steps to upgrade SVC console from version 5.1.0.680 to 5.1.0.

firmware code from version 5.1.0.5 to version 5.1.0.11

1. Backup the snap, config files and public/private keys and save it to management server
2. Take a screenshot/list of the users on SVC
3. Ensure all the SVC nodes ethernet ports are connected to network.
4. Have all the code/software downloaded and uploaded to the SVC MC ahead of change window.
5. Check event logs to ensure there are no errors
6. Run Maintenance procedures and ensure all the errors are fixed
7. Install and SVC software upgrade test utility to check if the new firmware code can be installed

Then login to SVC CLI and type below command to install the utility

svcservicetask applysoftware -file IBM2145_INSTALL_svcupgradetest_x.x

Now type below command to run the test utility

svcupgradetest -v 5.1.0.11
If you get below output then SVC is good for firmware upgrade
>> Installing SVC Console:

Download & extract the SVC Console file and run the setup.exe file in IBM-SVC-Console/W2K directory
Restart the management server and login back to SVC console and check the user IDs. Ensure you are
able to login to SVC CLI
>> Installing SVC firmware code:
Click on “Check Upgrade Status” in GUI to check the status of upgrade
In CLI type “svcinfo lssoftwareupgradestatus” command to check if the upgrade process is active or
stalled. Keep running the “svcinfo lsnode” command to get information on the node on which the
firmware upgrade is currently running
