Introduction

It is not necessary to show all the components of the

system on a single line diagram, the circuit breaker need
not be shown in the load flow study but are must for a
protection study. In the single line diagram, the system
component is usually drawn in the form of their symbols.
Generator and transformer connections, star, delta and
neutral earthling are indicated by symbols drawn by the
side of the representation of these elements.

The usefulness of the per unit system is in converting all

system impedances to per unit impedances and re-
illustrating the circuit without having to worry about the
different voltage levels from each transformer.

Data, Results & Discussion

Per unit impedance (Zp.u)

Generator 1 0.15
Generator 2 0.15
Lines 20Ω 0.1944813959
Lines 40Ω 0.03889627918
Y-Y Transformers 0.09259259259
Y-∆ Transformers 0.09259259259

These data represents the per unit impedance of the wye-wye,

wye-delta transformers and the transmission lines. These
values obtained through the principle of converting system
impedances to per unit impedance.

Conclusion

Therefore, by converting the system impedances to per unit

impedance, you can transform or re illustrate the circuit of
the system without worrying about the ratings from the
transformers. As a result the per unit impedances computed
in the generators are the same. Same scenario in happens to
the transformers whether it is a Y-Y or Y-delta
transformers.
