Preparedness for Emergency

Accident Relief Medical Equipments (SPARMV and ARME) are available at the following
stations –

Self Propelled Accident Relief Medical Van (SPARMV)

As the name suggests it is a series of unit of Accident Relief Train stationed at important
stations. The function of SPARMV is to carry medicines and medical equipments to the site of
accidents so that prompt medical aid can be rendered and injured persons transported
expeditiously to the nearest hospital.

2) Verna

Accident Relief Medical Equipments (ARME)

These are located at stations where there is no Accident Relief Train. They are located at
eleven places in Konkan Railway. It consists of three sets of Portable Medical Kit for
Accidents (POMKA) and additional items. These are stored in a separate room in the station
building. ARME equipments are intended to be used in major accidents only and are to be
handled by any available Doctor or by any one under the supervision of a Doctor.

Augmented First Aid Box – To be used by any Doctor on board to deal with an emergency. It
is available in the pantry cars of the following trains –

1) 10103/10104 – Mandovi Express

2) 10111/10112 – Konkankanya Express.
