Her report was about Digital Satellite TV, which provides to numerous areas of the world a widespread range of services & channels, often to areas that are not serviced by terrestrial or cable providers. For more information, she presented examples of Digital Satellite TV and those are the GSat Direct TV, Cignal, and SKY Direct. Another is the Digital Cable TV, which she gave its definition and shown a graphical representation of this. Examples of Digital Cable TV are the Destiny Cable and Parasat. Internet Protocal TV or also known as IPTV has also been explained with the given of FOX+, iflix, Netflix, iWant, HOOQ, HBO Go, and Viu.
Rank 2 – Amber Meazyle Cababat
History of Color Television is her topic. She gave its definition and development from 1904 upto 1968. The inventors and other researchers were also included, which gave a lot of information. There is a photo of the RCA CT-100 and Admiral C1617A that presents the first color TVs offer for sale on December 30, 1953 and both had a 15-inch screen. She also presented a brief timeline of color TV until the late 1980’s.
Rank 3 – John Paul Alolor
History of Digital Television is his topic. As he mentioned, James Lindenberg, an American engineer is the father of Philippine television. He was obliged to branch into radio broadcasting instead due to the shortage of raw materials and firm import control since 1948. Another trivia I learned is that the day ABS-CBN launched Balls HD in Sky Cable, which is the first ever high-definition TV channel in the country, was on July 11, 2009.
Rank 4 – John Christian P. Gaspar
His topic was about Video Recording for which he gave its definition. He showed the history of movies. One of the first people showed how one moving picture could be made from many still ones and that is Eadweard Muybridge. Another subtopic is how movie cameras and video recording work given the meaning of video cameras and camcorders. He explained how photons hitting a photosite and creating electrons. Another is how the three colors mix to form many colors. Bayer filter made me amazed as it’s first time for me to hear it. Last part is the digital camcorder’s abouts.
Rank 5 – Maria Krysia Nicole Algabre
Her topic was about Digital Television (DTV) as she explained its definition and types in accordance to its use. She gave the Digital Terrestrial Television’s meaning and here in the Philippines along its list of stations. She thoroughly discussed each station given the ABS-CBN, PTV, TV 5, GMA, NET TV, INCTV, BEAM, SMNI, CNN Philippines, LIGHT Network, DZRH Television, UNTV and RJTV. Rank 6 – Justine Rei A. Tuazon Transmission and Reception is her topic as she explained everything about it. Also the TV transmission stations in both Very High Frequency (VHF) and Ultra High Frequency (UHF) here in the Philippines given with its range in channels from 2-13 and 14-51. She also presented the Digital-to-Analog Converter Box Setup for Viewing Analog, Digital Broadcasts and Analog TV.
