In most conflicts poverty and inequitable distribution of wealth play a major role. One of
the root causes of conflicts in most societies are the lack of respect and denial of human rights.
In addition, breakdown in communication resulting to misunderstanding among nations often
induce conflicts which adversely affects sustainable development in many ways. War destroys
human resource base. Also national infrastructure and environment are vastly damaged for
these are usually considered as military targets for the prosecutions of the war. Once a conflict
takes place the society is completely destabilized, the peace building process will be
necessitated since there is need to rehabilitate through a set of actions, predominantly
diplomatic and economic, that strengthen and rebuild governmental infrastructure and
institutions in order to avoid relapse into conflict. Many peace building actions requires inputs of
