WASTE DISPOSAL
BINS:
1. Red: Recyclable contaminated waste
IV tubes, catheters, tubing, or syringes (without the needle), urine bags, gloves, etc.
2. Yellow: Various biological waste
Human waste, tissues, organs, or bodily fluids, chemicals, soiled bed sheets, animal
carcasses, or laboratory waste.
3. Blue: broken/discarded contaminated glass
Broken glass materials, except those contaminated with cyotoxic wastes, metallic
body implants
4. White containers: Contaminated sharp objects
used needles, scalpels, or blades. It must be sent to a sanitary landfill.
STP – SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT
ETP – EFFLUENT TREATMENT PLANT, for biomedical waste/fluids, which is then taken by
Pollution Control Centre
Biomedical wastes can also be liquidified by Autoclaves, then disposed off
Biomedical waste disposal + incineration only done by certified vendor (Fresh Air in
Kamrup)
