CLINICAL FOCUS IN EMERGENCY ROOM

Care of the clients with problems in cellular aberrations, acute biologic crisis, emergency and
disaster nursing.

Course Description:

It deals with the principles and techniques of nursing care management of sick clients
across the lifespan with emphasis on the adult and older person with alteration / problems in
cellular aberration, acute biologic crisis, including emergency and disaster nursing and IV
Therapy.

Placement: 4th year, 1st Semester

Total No. of Hours: 108 lecture hours, 255 RLE Hours

General Objective: At the end of the course, and given actual clients with problems in cellular
aberrations, acute biologic crisis and emergency, the student should be able to utilize the
nursing process in the care of individuals, families in community and hospital settings,
organized and accurate documentation system, relate with client/s and their family and the
health team appropriately, observe bioethical concepts/ principles, core values and nursing
standards in the care of clients and promote personal and professional growth of self and
others.

DAY 1

That at the end of the 8 Hrs duty,
student will be able to:
1. Assess the clients for
acute biologic crisis and
emergency cases.
2. Identify steps/pointers in
decision making and
prioritization in
emergency and disaster
preparedness
3. Identify the etiology and
risk factors of acute
biologic crisis and
emergency cases.
4. Determine the basic
pathophysiology acute
biologic crisis emergency
cases.
5. Perform life saving
interventions: basic life
support advanced
cardiac life support, first
aid measures, and fluid
resuscitation.
DAY 3
That at the end of the 8 Hrs duty,
student will be able to:
1. Provide opportunities to
perform procedures
needed in emergency
situation.
2. Develop plan of care for
the management specific
to clients’ case.
3. Implement plan of care
based on assessment in
the specified case.
4. Develop plan of care for
the management,
follow-up care and self-
management education.
DAY 4
That at the end of the 8 Hrs duty,
