1. On the Analysis tab, in the
1
Plot group, click Plot.
2. On the Plot database pane
to the right, click Bodies,
Ball position in the x-direction and y-direction over time
click Ball, and then double-
click Pos_TY and double-
click Pos_TX. 2
3. Click the Data Editor button. 3
4. Scroll the data sheet that
appears below to the right
and find the data whose
Pos_TY value is 0 to check
the time required for the ball
to reach the ground and the
distance travelled in the x-
direction (Pos_TX).

• Refer to the initial launch 𝑥0 = 0 , 𝑥𝑓 = 𝑅
conditions of the ball and 𝑦0 = 0 , 𝑦𝑓 = 0
• the RecurDyn analysis 𝑉𝑥0 = 5000 × cos 60 = 2500 𝑚𝑚/𝑠
results 𝑚𝑚
𝑉𝑥𝑓 = 5000 × sin 60 = 4330
𝑠
• to calculate the time required
for the ball to reach the 1
ground and the distance 𝑦𝑓 = 𝑦0 + 𝑉𝑦0 𝑡 − 𝑔𝑡 2
travelled in the x-direction 2
0 = 0 + 4330𝑡 − 0.5 × 9806 × 𝑡 2
using the analytical solution,
and compare the results with 0 = 4330 − 4905𝑡 𝑡
the RecurDyn results. 𝑡 = 0.88 𝑠𝑒𝑐
𝑥𝑓 = 𝑥0 + 𝑉𝑥0 𝑡
𝑅 = 0 + 2500 × 0.88
𝑅 = 2200 𝑚𝑚
