Section Three: Teacher Candidate Artifacts

Introduction

This section of this project portfolio will showcase the previous skills I have learned and

the knowledge that I have acquired in relation to the teaching field. The artifacts in this section

are used to showcase and highlight my strengths and the past experiences I have so far, as I work

towards my MSED in elementary education. The artifacts in this section will incorporate my

abilities in such areas as; planning, instruction, assessment, literacy, mathematics, professional

development and technology. The artifacts will also provide evidence in my ability to

accommodate for learners, incorporate culturally responsive teaching and overall classroom

management.

I will include three lesson plans that will showcase my abilities as an elementary teacher

to plan, instruct and assess students in areas including; literacy, geography and mathematics.

Within this section there will also be artifacts pertaining to the research I have done on a literacy

paper as well as on a NYS report card assessment, that I completed as part of my MSED

program. I have also included two professional development certificates that I took part in in

order to educate myself more on the needs of students.

The Weebly Website that is included will highlight my technology skills and how these

will be transferable in the classroom. Technology is so important to include in the classroom as a

way of engaging students. Throughout the lesson plans I have included; you will see the use of

technology in order to incorporate all learning styles. I have also made sure to become familiar

with the new forms of technology and how they can be used in the classroom in meaningful

ways for the students to encourage their learning.

Artifacts & Rationales

These artifacts will showcase my abilities to effectively plan, instruct and asses students

within an elementary classroom. The artifacts will also provide proof of my abilities and

readiness to become and effective and competent elementary teacher. As you will see I have a

well-rounded teaching approach and I have used the skills I have learned so far to demonstrate

this through the following artifacts.
