Specification statement:
This manual is only used to explain the working principle,performanceand circuit parameters of
the fuel level sensor of U02,and does not include the application instructions of use, installation
method.etc. Please contact us for other information.

I. General View

1.1General description

The U02 fuel level sensor is a sensing device that uses ultrasonic detection technology to measure the
height of non-contact liquid surfaces of fuel and liquid substances. Compared with traditional detection
equipment, the it has high measurement accuracy and easy to use. It can be installed externally(without
destroying the container structure) and can be connected to network equipment to achieve network
monitoring and management. Ultrasonic fuel level monitoring sensors are designed to optimize the
mode of vehicle monitoring. it can adapt to vehicles operating or stationary at various speeds on various
roads, and can also output more stable data for other liquids loaded on vehicles.
U02 fuel level sensor referred to as sensors.

1.2Features

•Non-contact measurement, no need to change the shape of the container ,no need to polishe the
surface paint layer of the container;
•Metal shell, internal circuit embedment treatment, waterproof design,no pressure for outdoor
environment;
•Built-in strong magnet, external waterproof adhesive, installation is simple and firm
•Wide voltage woring,DC12~48V supply power,suitable for all kinds of vehicles;
•Two output port is RS232 output port &RS485 output port,Compatible with various sensor signal
acquisition equipment connection;
•High-frequency ultrasonic detection, high solid penetration, suitable for various materials such as
metal, plastic containers
•High stability measurement output, built-in anti-interference data processing model, intelligent
filtering, compensation environment interference;
•High-precision measurement output, built-in high-precision calculation model, millimetre

II、Appearance Description

1.Appearance diagram

① Sensor body shell, alloy material, reliable protection of the internal circuit, built-in strong magnet,
provide installation support;
② Strong waterproof adhesive paper can stick the sensor firmly to the surface of the container,
strengthen the signal coupling, and fix it more firmly;
③ Ultrasonic transducers, referred to as transducers, core sensor devices, are used for the conversion
of ultrasonic mechanical energy and electrical signals
④ Sensor output connector, waterproof structure, for the sensor and signal lines for the rapid plug
and pull connection;
⑤ The fixed cap of sensor connector, used for fastening sensor output connector and signal wire
connector;
⑥ The sensor transmission line plate is used to fix the sensor connection and buffer the bending
damage of the signal wire;
⑦ The sensor is used to limit the position of the belt and strengthen the fastening of the bundle.

① Signal wire connection plug, waterproof structure, used for connection with sensor output connector
② Four cores with shielded signal wires, the length of the wriess is 7 meters, sensor power supply, signal
transmission
③ Red core wire, sensor supply wires, connecting power supply positive pole(power supply voltage
range 12-48V DC);
④ Black core wire, sensor supply wires, connecting power supply negative pole;
⑤ Green core wire, sensor signal wires, the signal wire is marked as RX and connecting to the TX end
of the user device
⑥ Yellow core wire, sensor signal wires, the signal wire is marked as TX and connecting to the RX end
of the user device;
Remark:If interface required with terminal output, attach installation instructions as required.

III、Communication Protocol

1.Scope of application

The sensor uses two hardware interfaces RS232&RS485 for data communication and can work in three
modes: automatic output mode, MODBUS controlled mode, and compatible with capacitive fuel level
gauge mode(default automatic output mode, using MODBUS controlled mode or compatible with
capacitive fuel level gauge mode, The corresponding command can be automatically switched to the
desired mode), and different modes of control are also different.

Calculate mode of checksum :The sum of all the accumulation which are for all the data from hours to temperature
value (includes comma), are showed as the method of ASCII code;

There are 37 byte sending data, the byte of counting checksum is sum=rx[4]+ rx[5]+…+rx[30]+ rx[31]

Remark(1):The abnormal sign is used to indicate the working status of the sensor circuit. When
the sensor detects abnormal ultrasonic measurement status and abnormal temperature
measurement, the abnormal sign of the sensor is placed to indicate the non-referential nature of
the data at this time.

(2)Operation example
1:From the first address (0X00FF) and then to read five registers' address sequentially, which status will
be:

5. Output mode of compatible with capacitive fuel level gauge

00FA32 is the current AD value, 00 is not enough 6 byte and then add 0 to replace, FA32 is the current
AD value of fuel level, ASCII represents the hexadecimal, that is the current value of fuel level is
0xFA32;
Note: This AD value is the corresponding AD value of 000000~~00FFFF for the range of fuel level
change in 0~100%;

Note: This AD value is the corresponding AD value of 000000~~00FFFF for the range of fuel level

Remarks:(1)When the environment temperature is in 0-39℃, the maximum value of humidity is 90%(no

V、Selection model of instructions


Sensor output mode is divided into RS232 and RS485,the user can choose the corresponding model
according to the actual use needs. The corresponding output mode to the sensor model is selected before
leaving the factory, the same sensor is incompatible with the two output modes.

VI、Notes
1. The cable length of ultrasonic transducer is default as 8 meters, users could not lengthen it any more;
2. Need to be sure the vehicle is stopped on the flat ground and the fuel/liquid level in tank could not be
less than 7cm before installing it;;
3. When you installing the ultrasonic sensor, follow the installation instructions;
4. The height of liquid level change is less than 15mm after refuel, the dealing with value of refuel will
not be updated;

5. When you want to test the alarm function you need to wait for one minute after power on;
6. The higher the communication rate, the shorter the length of the signal line, the length of the
communication rate of 9600 bit/S should be controlled within 8 meters, and the communication rate of
128,000 bit/S should be controlled within 3 meters. Other rates are adjusted between 3-8 meters based
on communication conditions;

VII、Packing Specifications
1. Default is the conventional packaging method of Dianyingpu.
2. Customized package materials according to customer IQC requirements.
3. The container transportation method needs to be staggered and the outer edge of the single pallet must
be used to strengthen the corner plate to provide sufficient support.
