Lesson Plan in English

Grade 7- Junior High School

I. Objective: At the end of the session, the students should be able to:
Observe correct subject-verb agreement (EN7G-I-d-11)
II. Subject Matter
A. Topic: Subject-Verb Agreement
GAD Core Values: Acknowledging and respecting gender roles in
home and society
B. References: Essential English for Junior High School
Learner’s Material, pp. 6-7
C. Instructional Materials:
a. Pictures
b. Laptop
c. TV
III. Procedure:
Preliminaries: (Prayer, Attendance, Review)
Motivational Activity: “Find to correct me” game (which will lead to the
lesson)
1. Activity:
The students will be grouped into four (4) and observe correct
Subject-Verb agreement in performing the following tasks:

Group I- arrange scramble words to form correct sentences


Group II-write five sentences about your surroundings
Group III-write five sentences from the given picture (integrating GAD)
Group IV- perform a very short one-act play (integrating GAD)

. 2. Abstraction
- After the presentation of outputs by the students, teacher will
process
their answers and let students participate the
discussion on Subject-verb Agreement. (2 rules only)
- Ask the students to discuss the subject-verb agreement rules they’ve
learned from the activity.

3. Application:
1. What’s the importance of observing correct Subject –Verb
Agreement in our daily communication?
2. Group Activity- The students will stand up and clap their hands
once if the sentence follows correct subject-verb agreement otherwise,
they will sit down and clap their hands twice .
1. Everyone knows the lesson.
2. I love watching movies.
3. The students has projects to do.
4. He talks to the girl.
5. The babies is crying so loud.
3. Students will complete the given phrases orally.

IV. Evaluation:
Directions: Observe a correct subject-verb agreement in each item. Fill in
the blanks with the correct answer.
1. Everybody ___ (is, are) listening to the teacher.
2. She ___ (love, loves) to travel abroad.
3. The students___ (has, have) to follow rules
in school.
4.The children ___ (dance, dances) so gracefully.
5. None of us ____ (know, knows) what the
future will be.

V. Assignment:
1. Write a short paragraph about yourself. Observe correct subject-verb
agreement. Use your journal.
2. Define Biography and autobiography .
