There are two parts to this test. Please refer to the Speaking Test Instructions before
conducting the test.
PART 1 2 – 3 minutes
Interlocutor: Good morning / afternoon / evening.

Giving information Back-up questions

Ask your student up to three questions from the following list. The questions may all be from
the same box or from more than one box.

• Where do you live? Do you live near here?

• What places are there in your town/village? Is there a swimming pool in your
town/village?

• Are there many shops in your town/village? Do you like the shops in your
town/village?

• What do you do? Do you have a job/Are you a

student?

• Do you work/study in the evening? When do you work/study?

• What time do you usually get up in the Do you get up early?

• What do you like to eat for breakfast? Do you like to eat fruit for breakfast?

• When do you eat in restaurants? Do you sometimes have lunch in a

restaurant?

• What’s your favourite food? Do you like fish?

• What country do you want to go to? Do you want to go to the USA?

• Do you have friends from other countries? What countries are your friends
from?

Extended response Back-up questions

Choose one of the topics below. Avoid questions on topics you have already used.
