On-the-job training (OJT) is a job training that occurs in the work place.

The new employee learns a job while doing the job and while earning his pay.

On the job training is also called hands on training. On the job training has many

advantages, but it can also have few disadvantages if the OJT is not properly

planned and executed.

The goal of the On-the-Job Training Program is to place the participants in

occupations that will serve as their prospects for long-term employment and will

ultimately permit them to become self-sufficient. OJT is very important not only

to teach students regarding their chosen career but also to know students the

reality about working. The students will have exposed to the actual work related

to the course that they are taking. It is the responsibility of the supervisors and

managers to utilize available resources to train, qualify, and develop their

employees and trainee as well. On-the-Job Training (OJT) is one the best training

method because it is planned, organized and conducted at the employee’s

worksite. On-the-Job Training (OJT) will generally be the primary method used

for broadening employee’s skills and increasing productivity.

To have a successful practicum program, supervisor need to assign a

coach to student involved in OJT practicum. It is the responsibility of the coach to

plan the training program carefully and conduct it effectively.

The On-the-Job Trainee must be able to cope much with each task given to

him/her. The On-the-Job Training coach must in turn observe the trainee as

he/she is working on that given tasks.

invaluable assets for achieving gainful; employment. The training provides

students the opportunity to accurate and sufficient knowledge and skills relevant

to work habits necessary to be competitive in the labor market. The training also

assists individuals in developing professionalism and interpersonal skills

necessary for success in the workplace.

The extended rail line envisioned to help ease the worsening traffic

conditions in the Paranaque – Las Pinas – Cavite corridor. It also expected to

enhance commercial development around the rail stations.

The international finance corporation, the development bank of the

Philippines Pinsent masons LLP, and C&G (Gatmaitan, Yap, Patacsil, Gutierrez

and Protacio) acted as transaction advisers to the grantors in the bidding of this

project.

Mr. Fernando Zobel de Ayala said, “We are very pleased to reach this

milestone on this important infrastructure project. The LRT Line 1 is a vital

component of our city’s transport network that will help ease the pressures

brought about by the increasing development around the city. As we assume the

responsibility for the operations of the train line next year, we hope to be able to

deliver in due time a much improved riding experience that is safe and efficient

for our daily rail commuters.”

Mr. Manuel V. Pangilinan remarked, “An efficient transport system is a

catalyst for growth and an extended LRT 1 running all the way to Bacoor will

generate growth along the corridor. The LRT 1 has been in operation for over 20

years and today’s event brings forth the beginning of a new age for Metro Manila

commuters. MPIC with our partners Ayala Corporation and Macquarie

Infrastructure with Bouygues Travaux and A1stom behind LRMC, together with

proven expertise of RATP Dev, a global operator, look forward to providing an

improved and extended LRT 1.”

“We stay firm on our commitments to deliver a safe, reliable, and world-

class rail system comparable to commuter railway hubs in our region and bring

value for what commuters pay for. These will encourage more people to opt for

the LRT 1 as their preferred mode of commuting and thus relieve the

increasingly heavy traffic routes, rising fuel prices and concern for air pollution.”

Pangilinan added.

Mr. Michael T. Rodriguez said, PINAI is excited to be part of this

landmark infrastructure project with our partners Metro Pacific Investments

Corporation and Ayala Corporation. LRT Line 1 is an ideal investment for PINAI

and offers significant long-term socio-economic benefits.

LRMC has forged partnerships with three leading French companies to

deliver an excellent rail transit system. Both Bouygues Travaux Publics and

A1stom Transport is a well-known for their impressive records of

accomplishment in constructing mass rail transit systems in France and other

parts of the world. RATP Group, operator of the Paris Metro, tapped as LRMC’s

technical partner.

Following the signing of the Concession Agreement, the Grantors and

LRMC expected to complete certain requirements and obligations before LRMC

officially takes over the existing operations, which is scheduled no later than one

year from signing of the Concession Agreement.

The Narrative Report

In my Thirty-Eight days of stay in this Company, I learned many

things not only those related to my course but also things that molded my

personality, develop my attitude into a corporate person. As I was working

as trainee at LRMC, I learned to become a hard-working person. Time

management and self-discipline are values necessary to finish the assigned

task, and to make excellent result.

I learned to appreciate even the simplest lesson I learned in school I

was able to realized how small things convert big results. I was able to

realize the importance of the theories and formulas that were discussed in

the classroom. Also, realize that everything that was taught in school can be

a tool for our future career.

Aside from the experiences that are related to my course, this OJT

allows me to be acquainted with the employees of Light Rail Manila

Corporation. Being with them was a pleasure because I worked with best

HR Officers and staff of LRMC. During my stay, they kept on encouraging

and motivating me to study hard and to do my best always.

I really had a very meaningful and memorable OJT at Light Rail

Manila Corporation. Though I already finished working there as trainee, I

am looking forward working with them, not as trainee anymore but as an

HR staff someday.

1. During my Training’s at LRMC – LRT 1, I been observed the

Human Resource Management Office adopted an old system of

filing. An old system of filing has lower security because it can be

lost through fire and flood.

2. The Habitual Absences and Tardiness of an Employee which is

covered by the Human Resource Management is one of the

problem I been encountered which resulted to jeopardizing the

working forces their duties and responsibilities that resulted also

for unmanned of their post.

3. Those employees in front liners was engaged in the Customer’s

Complain, which affected the images of the Company as well as

their personal records.

1. As a recommendation, an electronic document management system for

the Human Resource Management Office which is much accessible and

higher security compared to the traditional filing.

2. I recommend that all the employees infractions must be documented,

giving them the chance to explain their situations. As well as given those

employees a commendation for their job well done. It is important to keep

accurate records of any disciplinary issue, to ensure that the issue is dealt

with properly. This includes minutes of meetings, letters between

employer, employee and trade union representatives, and any follow-up

activities that need to be undertaken. These records also provide a point of

reference to ensure that all parties are meeting their agreed obligations in

the event of further disputes.

3. Providing training courses so people can go at their own pace their

Customer Training Seminars for them to have an excellent services and

the proper approached as a front liners whereas complaints be prevented.

The OJT in Human Resource Management, all of the task given was

truly helpful develops the trainee in developing the interpersonal skills.

Shows the importance of good interpersonal relationships to be able to deal

effectively with different types of people.

The OJT served as my stepping-stone to pursue my dream to be an

HR Officer or even Manager someday. This training gave me an inspiration

to be more serious and focus in studying, as I was encouraged to do more

efforts in my studies. Since I was given some ideas about the work of an HR

in the company where I conducted my training, I am inspired to be like

them someday.

Over all in my 38 days as trainee made me realize that it is important

to know what you’re doing, what you are like and love to work. As a

student, the thing I can do for now is to learn whatever I can in school, love

the path I am taking, and do my best in everything, and with positive

outlook in mind. I realized that I should be more focused in school and do

everything heartily and with all I can.
