S being built with RCC. no scientific test such as “Non-Destructive
Tests” could be conducted on the structure to assess the various parameters such as existing
strength and quality of the conerete. Only a physical reconnaissance is carried out and the

2.0 Observations and Discussions
21 The building is a Ground + First Floor RCC frame building and is hardly 4-5 months
old. The thickness of slabs is around 125 mm, As per the information obtained from the client
itis Tearnt that surface plate vibrator was not used during conereting works on slabs, though
Pin vibrator was used in beams. Figs. | through 2 show concreting work in progress in

ground floor slab, where the surface is seen unfinished at rear end. Figs. 3 through 6 illustrate
visible structural cracks in concreting work in ground floor slab. Figs. 7 through 8 indicate air
bubbles oozing out during ponding with water on ground and first floor slabs. Figs. 9 through
14 show dampness/moisture in slabs/beams/columns due to ponding with water on ground
floor slab. Fig, 15 illustrate spalling of ceiling plastering (hardly a month old) due to
dampness in ground floor slab,
