Interns,

I just got off the phone with Andrew Rudolph. He’s excited about the designs you created for the ARC website. That
said, he is, understandably, a little nervous about going live with a new, untested design, especially for a website that
is so important to our client.

After talking, Mr. Rudolph and I came to the decision that the best course of action is to conduct a series of usability
testing on your designs. That will help us expose any usability issues that may exist and give us a chance to fix those
issues before the site launches. To help put Mr. Rudolph’s mind at ease, you will present the findings of your test and
the resulting updates to your design in a final presentation the last week of class.

The specific requirements for your usability testing and presentation are attached. Thinking about available time and
resources, the best strategy for this project is to have you work in teams to conduct five rounds of usability testing
on an ARC site design. I know this may be different than what you initially outlined in your research plan. However,
that’s the reality of the business world – things change quickly and you need to be able to react and adapt to your
client’s needs.

In addition to testing your ARC site design, I think we should also conduct a round of usability testing on the WFI site
design. I know this will be more work. However, it’s better for us to uncover and fix usability issues now rather than
later. As you did for the last project, you will be given time to work on the WFI site design during our class sessions
and will need to complete the work for the new project outside of class.

We will be exploring the specifics of usability testing in more detail in class over the next few weeks. But please don’t
hesitate to ask if you have questions.

Thanks again for your hard work,

Manager, Special Projects
