Solve the problems in separate sheets of paper. Put a box in your final answer.

1. Given the Volumetric Analysis of a Natural Gas:

CH4 = 84.10% Nitrogen = 7.50%
C2H6 = 7.60% CO2 = 0.80%

Calculate the following:

a) Theoretical O/F ratio by mass and by volume
b) Actual A/F ratio at 20% excess air by mass and by volume
c) Volumetric Analysis of Products
d) A/F ratio considering an incomplete combustion where CO = 10% CO 2

2. Given the “As Received” analysis of a coal:

Sulfur = 1.77% Hydrogen = 4.73%
Carbon = 80.66% Nitrogen = 1.42%
Oxygen = 5.02% Moisture = 3.32%
Ash = 6.40%

Using the Ash & Moisture Free Analysis of the coal, calculate the following:
a) Theoretical O/F ratio
b) Actual A/F ratio at 25% excess air
c) Gravimetric Analysis of wet gas
d) Volumetric Analysis of dry gas
e) LHV of the fuel in kJ/kg
