lamps.
5. Fit a Binomial distribution to the following data which gives the number of defectives in a
sample of a specialty chemical manufactured at a plant of Modern Chemicals Limited. From
the past experience, 10% defectives were observed. Apply the appropriate test for finding the

8. Supplies of bars from two suppliers affect the cycle time for producing a fabricated part in a
factory. Seven bars of Indian Casting Industry (P) Ltd. were randomly selected and assigned to
seven different machines. The same seven machines were randomly assigned seven bars from
M/s. Suncity Steel Industries. The number of minutes required to fabricate the parts are given
below.

Can we conclude that different suppliers do affect the machining times of the parts

attitude measurement scales and different type of questions. (Make assumptions, if
necessary)
10. The following table shows the number of pieces produced per shift of 8 hours by three
operators A, B and C for five different lathe machines.

Test whether the difference is significant in the efficiency of three operators? Test at 5% level
of significance using appropriate test.

11. a) It is desired to estimate the average daily wages of skilled workers in an industrial estate
(through a survey) within +0.05 precision at 95% confidence level. The standard deviation of
the population is estimated as Rs. 0.835. What should be the sample size for this survey.

b) What different techniques of Analysis would you use for analyzing the sales of three
different motorcycles in automobile industry in various zones of the country. Which
technique would you use for seasonal variation. How would you predict sales for future.
Do qualitative methods help in such case?

12. Attempt the following case:

PCRA has been releasing some advertisements “Save Fuel” on FM Radio as well as on some
TV channels. Suppose PCRA wants to evaluate the effectiveness of these advertisements that
to what extent the customers are aware of these advertisements and have these Ads really
made an impact on their habits and behaviour? As a researcher, Prepare a research plan to
achieve these objectives of PCRA which should include:

6. A quality control test is conducted on 156 packs of 8 bulbs each and following observations
were made for the bulbs observed fused during the test:

Can it be reasonably concluded at 5% level of significance that all the packs were equally
defective. Apply appropriate statistical test.

7. Describe any two parametric tests. Take a suitable example from marketing research and
formulate a research problem and a hypothesis for testing the difference of mean for single

9. Suppose you want to carry out a study on the research objective - to find out the factors leading to

based on these identified variables.

10. A state govt. undertaking is interested in determining whether an association exists between the
commuting time of their Engineers and the level of stress-related problems observed on the job. A
study of 120 Junior Engineers involved in National Highway construction revealed in the table:
