back to sir.

We created a heflo business process for absence approval in three steps. The diagram is in last. We
learned a good tool here
Importance of Planning and Implementation

Provides opportunity to analyze alternative courses of action
Reduces uncertainties
Minimizes impulse and arbitrary decision

4 Steps to implement a plan

1. Identify 2. Organize 3. Communicate 4. Evaluate

Business Process Re-engineering (BPR)
The business process engineering is the process to re-think existing process from IT perspective and then
create a entirely new business process to eliminate and improve the process design

The re-creation not only helps in effective manpower usage, it also reduces manual effort and helps in
leveraging IT capabilities

5 Business Process Engineering Steps

5 Vowels

1. Ascertain
2. Eliminate
3. Improve
4. Outsource
5. Use Effectively

Success Tips for ERP-led BPR

1. Prepare people for change
2. Choose right approach
3. Select ERP keeping present and future growth
Discussion Questions 1
Which one will you select, if you are a traditional industry that is not growing and has a first-time user?

I will choose Simple ERP for a non-growing industry as I will be able to reap maximum cost benefit today
and since the industry is not growing, I do not expect much use case changes, much newer
functionalities and a simple ERP will be able to satisfy my needs

Discussion Questions 2
Which one will you select, if your firm has experienced users and part of a growing industry?

Sophisticated ERP like PeopleSoft / SAP will be able to help me here. The enhanced capabilities can be
leveraged as we grow along with the industry. We will have complicated processes, new technology and
more number of users in a growing industry
3 step approval process using HEFLO

Three levels for absence request are

1. Employee
2. Level 1 Manager
3. Level 2 Manager

Business Process
1. Employee will create a absence request
2. The leave approval will go to Level 1 Manager for approval
3. Level 1 Manager may deny the leave request and in that case the employee gets a mail of rejection
and process completes
4. On level 1 Manager’s approval, the leave request goes to Level 2 Manager
5. Level 2 Manager may deny the leave request and in that case the employee gets a mail of rejection
and process completes
6. On Level 2 Manager approves the request, the leave is approved and employee gets the mail and
process completes

This business process will be delivered as Group 11 assignment

SALT 7.6 Good is better than the best

The SALT highlights the decision-making dilemma to choose among the variety of ERP applications

My opinion on Vice Chairman’s Decision

The Chairman’s decision is based on the fact that organizations needs are satisfied by the second-best
ERP. I agree with the fact that we should not buy the functionality that we won’t use rather we should
implement something that meets our current and near future demands
