Indian Civil Aviation – Challenges and the Way Forward

Secretary General Draft Message

I am pleased to inform that the earlier ASSOCHAM Report on the Indian Civil

Aviation Industry released in 2007 was very well received by the Ministry of Civil

Aviation and the other stakeholders.

On the occasion of the Centenary Conference on Indian Civil Aviation,

ASSOCHAM salutes the Indian Civil Aviation Sector and particularly the private

sector airlines for braving the global financial turmoil and eventually emerging

stronger.

The Indian Civil Aviation Industry is at an inflexion point and is set to enter the

next phase of growth with even greater momentum. Though the sector still has

few impediments to growth, however we are confident that with the support of the
Government and other Stakeholders the Indian Civil Aviation Industry will

certainly soar to newer heights.

The ASSOCHAM and KPMG Report on the Indian Civil Aviation industry is

expected to throw light on the key challenges and opportunities present for the

Indian Civil Aviation Industry in the next two decades.

We thank the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India and the other

stakeholders in extending their support for the ASSOCHAM Centenary

Conference on Indian Civil Aviation, 2011 and convey our good wishes for the

success of the Conference.
