    “Clash of Civilization”

    Reflection Paper

    History repeats itself. It is a description that I always hear every time we talk
    about history. Also in my past learning it is said that history is a written work of events in
    the past that will have a significant impact in the present. Based on this description
    history is basically a lesson for us to learn so that we can create solutions for our
    present problems. The book entitled Clash of Civilization is example of the description
    which is history gave solution to the present problem of our society. This book tackles
    the cold war events and the post-cold war. According to Huntington after the cold war
    there will be the clash of culture where in, monarchs and ideologies will not be the
    reason of war. I have learned that some of the things that Huntington wrote is proven no
    a days. He said in that book that time will come where cultures will be the root of war.
    The different beliefs and culture which is now rampant may create chaos if we fail to
    accept each other’s opinion and beliefs. Having a nation who accept diversity is
    important today and this is the reason why I believe that history is the key of learning
    and coping that will prepare us to be more competent and committed human being.

    Now that we are in a situation where nations fight for what they think is right. We
    must remember that human rights and democracy is the number one priority. These two
    priorities were mentioned in the work of Huntington. In this day of pandemic we must
    remember that each of us has the right to live. Human rights remain the ideological
    alternative even if the standards of reason on emerging war changes. These human
    rights and democracy will remain. Culture and religion may be a hinder but as we hold
    same hope I know that even we have diverse beliefs we will be able to help each other
    in spite of our differences. Civilizations of each country may affect their response and
    based on my observation our civilization too has a great impact on the increasing
    number of COVID 19 in the Philippines. For me reading text just like this clash of
    civilization helps people to be more cautious in the next decisions that we will do.
