-Tool Creation Quick Start Guide –

These instructions build a single USB key that includes both the
HP System Board Configuration tool and
HP System Board Replacement & System Diagnostics utilities

To download and build the tool, please follow the steps below:

• One USB Key (8GB-16GB) 1. BIOS_000x.zip
2. grubinst.exe
3. HP_TOOLS_000x.zip
4. Ionic.Zip.dll
5. MakeBootableDMI.exe
6. win98boot.zip (third-party)

3 Building the Tool

1. Download files 1-5 above from HP and place them in the same Folder on your computer.
2. Download http://www.bay- wolf.com/utility/usbkey/win98boot.zip and place it into the
same folder with the other files.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS FILE MUST BE DOWNLOADED SEPERATLY.

3. Place an 8GB or greater USB key into any available USB port.
4. Right click over the “MakebootableDMI.exe” and select “Run as Administrator”
5. With the command shell window selected, press Enter
6. The inserted USB key will be seen with a number assigned to it.
7. Select the number corresponding to the USB you would like to format.
8. Press Y key twice to format the USB.
9. Type 1 to select the USB image tobuild.
10. Image will now build.

Please Note: It will take approximately 10-15 minutes to

build the USB key (depending on the type of USB port).
