LESSON PLAN IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION

I. OBJECTIVES:
- To identify and discuss the “Top ten potentially harmful exercises”.
- To define the reason(s) of potentially injurious exercises.
- To apply alternative exercises.

II. SUBJECT MATTER:

III. PROCEDURE:
A. DAILY ROUTINE:
- Checking of Attendance
- Cleanliness
B. MOTIVATION:
- Ask students/athletes what do they do before playing sports?
- How do we prevent or reduce the chances of injury prior to the game or any
strenuous exercises?
- Ask for a volunteer student to show stretching exercise in front of the class.
C. DEVELOPMENT OF THE LESSON:
1. Activity:
Discuss the “Top Ten Potentially Dangerous Exercises”.
1. The Plough
2. Hurdler’s stretch
3. Sit-up with leg straight
4. Double knee bends
5. Deep knee bends
6. Sit-up with hands behind neck
7. Standing toe touch
8. Shin and quadriceps stretch
9. Neck hypertension
10. Ballistic ballet bar stretches
2. Analysis:
- Define and explain reasons of potentially dangerous exercises.
- Ask for a student to perform the different alternative exercises and explain why it can
prevent injuries.
3. Abstraction:
- Students can enumerate the top ten potentially dangerous exercises and its alternative
exercises.
- Students can give the importance of proper warm-up and stretching.
4. Application:
- Students are grouped and perform the ten alternative exercises.

IV. EVALUATION:
Teacher will go around and supervise the ten alternative exercises learned by the students; check
proper execution.

V. ASSIGNMENT:
Prepare for a graded practicum next meeting.
