In Search of Safety Red Cross Program for Primary Schools

Tuesday 25th February 2020

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

On Tuesday 3rd March (Week 6) the Year 6/7 students in Rooms 11 and 12 will participate in a program
run by Red Cross Australia. The program, ‘In Search of Safety’, is an education workshop developed for
participants to better understand why people seek asylum. The program will cover the following
topics/questions:

 What are human rights?

 Who are asylum seekers?
 Why do they come to Australia?

The program uses an engaging and interactive presentation with real-life stories and provides students with
the chance to ask questions. The program will be held during school hours and is free of charge. If you have
any questions please contact your child’s teacher.

Please sign the tear off slip below to give your child permission to participate.

Kind regards,

Stasha Andrews and Chloe Rushton (Year 6/7 Teachers)
