Simple sentence

patterns
Noun1 は Noun2 です。
Noun1 ha Noun2 desu.
は HA
 The particle ha indicates that the word before it is the topic of the
sentence
です DESU
 Nouns used with desu work as predicates
 Indicates judgment or assertion
 Polite
わたし は フィリピンじん です。
watashi ha firipinjin desu.
Watashi = I FIRIPINJIN = FILIPINO

あの人は医者です。
anohito ha isha desu.
Anohito = that person isha = doctor
Noun1 は Noun2 じゃ ありません。
Noun1 ha noun2 ja arimasen.
 Ja arimasen is the negative form of desu. It is the form used in daily
conversation
 For formal speech or writing, deha arimasen is used.
アンさん は エンジニア じゃ ありませ
ん。
Ann-san ha enjinia ja arimasen.
Enjinia = engineer

チェンさん は ぎんこういん じゃ あり
ません。
Chen-san ha ginkouin ja arimasen.
Ginkouin = bank employee
Sentence か
sentence ka
 used to express the speaker’s doubt, question, uncertainty, etc. A
question is formed by simply adding ka to the end of the sentence.
A question ends with a rising intonation.
Noun1 も Noun2 です。
Noun1 mo Noun2 desu.
も MO
 The particle mo indicates that the statement about the topic is the
same as the previous topic
 “also” “too”
アンさん は エンジニア です。
Ann-san ha enjinia desu.
Ann is an engineer.

チェンさん も エンジニア です。


Chen-san mo enjinia desu.
Chen is also an engineer.
