(subject to popularity)
How long you are able to work in this job is determined by popularity

Anyone can be an influencer there are no exact qualifications required to be an influencer but
there are some skills that would be useful if you had. First you have to determine if life in the
online eye is right for you. You need to be a self-starter and highly motivated. From an outside
perspective, influencing appears to be a pretty easy amateur modeling gig. However, the fact of
the matter is that it is a 24/7 graft due to social media never sleeping. Any freelance work is
difficult, but when your salary depends on popularity, being seen and heard, will be at the top of
your priority list, constantly in your life. Your primary concerns have to be ideation, product
selection, content creation, editing, editorial, finance tracking and relationship management. All
while demonstrating ROI to keep the ball rolling and retaining client interest.

Responsibilities:
1. Content Creation
● No matter social media platform focus you will be responsible for capturing and
creating content for the right feeds
● Do market research to determine your target market/audience
● Treat feed like a curation of an art gallery and be highly competent on apps such
as Lightroom. Photoshop, FaceTune, VSCO etc.
● Use analytics to determine the right time to post for your target audience and
ensuring upcoming content is scheduled across all social channels
2. Client Management and Growth
● You will be in charge of managing your clients’ processes, from proposals,
quoting and budgeting, all the way through to project development and execution
● Post campaign, oversee project evaluations, sharing all results and insight with the
client
● To maintain authenticity you need to proactively growing your social accounts by
organically posting alongside campaign work, to help ensure feed remains
genuine and trustworthy
3. Influencer Profiling
● To grow your account and social network your content will need to be featured on
other profiles. This means you will need to ensure the influencers you collaborate
and hang out with are like minded people with similar communities to you.
● Extremely important that your follower growth is entirely spontaneous, meaning
under no circumstance should you buy following, or involve yourself with
someone who has bought their following; IT IS ILLEGAL, your account will be
shut down
● Showing your face as an influencer offline is just as important as online. Event
attendance gives you the opportunity to network with like minded influencers and
introduce yourself to potentially collaborative brands in person
● Join an influencer marketplace agency to put yourself out there and connect with
brands looking for influencers like you
4. Public Speaking
● Do not let the world make assumptions about you at face value you have to get
our and tell them who you are through having your voice heard
● Panel events and speaker opportunities are a great way to do this
5. Follower Community Management
● Dealing with hate from a range of sources is VERY much part of the job. You
have to be resilient enough to brush off the negative opinions and ignore or
effectively deal with trolling.
● You have to be someone who people go to for inspiration of what to buy, where
to buy and when to buy
● Set aside time to engage with audience by replying to comments, answering DMs
and commenting/following/liking other accounts is also imperative, you have to
think of yourself as the leader of a conversation within a community
6. Finance
● First starting out you have to take responsibility for your own finances, from
quoting for a job, negotiating your fee and completing your taxes
● Salary is something that will be increasingly difficult to keep tabs on, since there
are no set guidelines for how much an influencer earns, so it is really up to you
how lucrative of a profession it can be
7. ASA Compliant
● The ASA are rightfully cracking down on the influencer community, and how
they advertise online
● You need to be seriously in the know when it comes to understanding what is
legal and what is not
