Mel and Patricia Ziegler co-founded Banana Republic back in 1978. The company was bought
by Gap in 1983 and now operates as a division, now with over 600 stores located
internationally.

Interview Questions:
1. Are you looking for growth within Banana Republic?
I am looking for a company I know I can trust and enjoy the culture of in the long term so I am
looking to stay with Banana Republic and I am open to growing opportunities within the
company.
2. How do you work with others?
I really enjoy a good strong relationship with those I work with through building good rapport
with them. I think this is done through listening and being assertive. I think I am able to work well
with others.
3. What were your past responsibilities at your previous job?
My past responsibilities was to keep up with course work for all the Apparel Design courses
offered which consisted of; children's clothing, apparel construction I & II, Pattern Making, Fitting
and Alterations, CAD Pattern Making, Textile Sciences, Fashion History, and Special Studies. I
had to keep up with all of these classes to be able to advise and assist students in all stages of
clothing construction from sketching to construction for all shapes and forms for both men and
women's wear. Also, I kept up with sewing & serger machine maintenance, inventory, and
sample sewing.
4. What is Banana Republic’s target market?
Target market includes fashion forward women and men aged 20-60 looking for both work and

6. What made you decide to interview here?
I love Banana Republic’s product lines and have for years. The company culture of equal work
equal pay and being one of the first fortune 500 companies to adopt this policy makes me want
to work for an employer that sees my work just as valuable as a man’s so I get paid accordingly.
7. What experience do you have designing menswear?
I have designed a collection of menswear from Fall 2021 for my Banana Republic Internship
Application. For my internship with Banana Republic I worked on designing and developing
menswear.
8. Can you tell me some design details of this outfit?
That is a men’s button-down collared shirt with a semi spread collar. The buttons appear to be
polyester buttons and have vertical buttonholes. The pocket is an inverted pleated pocket on the
left breast. Sleeves are full long sleeves with classic cuffs with no buttons but buttonholes to
allow for cufflinks.
