GUIDELINES FOR ADMISSION TO M.PHIL. PROGRAMME IN

AFFILIATED/AUTONOMOUS COLLEGES & UNIVERSITY DEPARTEMENTS

1. POINTS TO BE NOTED WHILE MAKING ADMISSIONS F0R PART- TIME M.PHIL

COURSE

a. Priority should be given to college teacher candidates of this University area.

b. Any citizen of India, irrespective of their employment status. Who wishes to pursue M.Phil.
programme are eligible to register under part time research, provided they fulfill the eligibility
norms, (as per full time)

2. POINTS TO BE NOTED WHILE MAKING ADMISSIONS FOR FULL-TIME M.PHIL

COURSE

a. Preference should be given to candidates coming under FIP etc. Priority among the same
shall be given to teacher candidates of this University area.
b. The applications from candidates for Full-time M.Phil. Programme may be merit listed
applying the following formula.

Admission are to be made on the basis of a Rank list prepared for each subject, taking
into consideration past academic records. The marks obtained in the UG degree, PG Degree
contribute, respectively, 20, 50 to the total score of 75, while the remaining 5 is allotted to the
candidate for his/her quality of success in the PG degree examinations and their locality, if
he/she has completed the PG Degree in single attempt, he/she gets a reward of 3, and if he/she
has completed the PG Degree in Bharathidasan University, he/she gets a priority weightage of 2.

SCORE : (A/B x 20 + C/D x 50 + X + Y)

where, A & B are the total marks obtained and total of maximum marks for Part-III
papers in UG Degree, C & D are the total marks obtained and total of maximum marks in PG
Degree, X=3, if the candidate has passed his PG degree in single attempt, 2 if he had failed once,
I if he failed two times and 0 if he had failed three or more or more time in one or more papers in
getting the PG degree; Y=2 if the candidates has studied his/her PG Degree in Bharathidasan
University and 0 (Zero) if had not.

This computation need not be followed for students if any who have applied with Open
University Degrees.
c. The candidates shall be listed in the Rank list in the descending order of their score
mentioned in (b) above, providing information as outlined below:

Following the Tamil Nadu Government reservation Quata system selection may be
made up to the permitted strength: and also for the residuary quota in the case of minority
institutions.

The Tamil Nadu Government reservation quota does not apply to Part-time admission

d. A separate list for the selected FIP teacher candidates following norms of Part-time
courses shall be provided along with the above list.

3. THE RESPECTIVE COLLEGES / UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENT ARE PERMITTED

TO MAKE ADMISSIONS AS PER NORMS MENTIONED ABOVE

The selection of candidates selected for admission may be communicated to the

candidates directly by the respective college / University department.

4. PAYMENT OF FEE:

The Principal of the College / Head of the University Department shall arrange to verify
the original certificates, produced by the candidates selected for admission. On verification,
the candidates shall be required to pay the prescribed fee.
In case of candidates admitted to the M.Phil courses conducted in affiliated/ autonomous
colleges the fee shall be paid to the respective colleges. In the case of candidates admitted to
undergo the course in the University Department, the fee shall be remitted by way of Demand
Draft drawn in favour of “BHARATHIDASAN UNIVERSITY” payable at
TIRUCHIRAPPALLI.

5. LIST OF CANDIDATES ADMITTED TO THE COURSE:

A complete list of candidates who have paid the fee and joined the course shall be
furnished to this office within 10 days after the last date given to candidates for the payment.

In the case of affiliated colleges, at the time of furnishing the above list, the amount due
to the University i.e. Registration fee, Matriculation fee, Recognition fee etc. of the candidates
admitted shall be sent in one installment by means of Demand Draft obtained in favour of
“BHARATHIDASAN UNIVERSITY” payable at “Tiruchirappalli.”
