1. INVESTIGATE ON THE USE OF THE PREPOSITIONS FOR AND SINCE, ITS


MEANING, ITS FUNCTION AND PERFORM 5 CONTEXTUALIZED EXAMPLES.

FOR significa "desde hace" o "durante" .


We use for and since to say how long something has been happening.
We use for + a period of time (two hours, six weeks, etc.)
When we measure the duration of something or how long it last.
It has a start point and an end point and can be used in different tenses.

• I’ve studied for two hours.

SINCE significa "desde" o "desde que" y se usa para señalar un


momento concreto en el tiempo.

We use since to talk about a point in the past, a specific point in time, the start of a period
(8:00, Monday, 1985, etc.)

When something started in the past and continues until now.

Since is mostly used in the present perfect and perfect continuous.

• I’ve lived in Chicago since 1985.

THE USE OF THE ADVERT JUST, ALREADY, YET, AND PERFORM 5
CONTEXTUALIZED EXAMPLES.

“Already” se refiere a algo que ha pasado antes o más pronto de lo que se esperaba y es
traducido como “ya” en español. 
-It is used between have / has and the verb participle:
Example: I'm only 15 years old, but I've already visited more than
10 countries in my life.

 My parents have already found a safer place for my younger brother to play.
 My father has already written some poems for my mom.
 Have you already read today's newspaper?
 Have you already called the doctor?
 I think my mom already knows about her surprise party.

“Just” se utiliza para acciones que han ocurrido hace poco tiempo y se traduce como
“acabar de” o “justo”. 

-just + infinitive ”, in English the present perfect tense is used with just
(between have / has and the verb participle):

Example: Paul has just left. (Paul acaba de irse).

 My aunt just made a cake, would you like some?
 Are Diane and Paul here? Yes, they've just arrived.
 Where have the students just gotten this?

“Yet” es usado para algo que esperábamos que sucediera, pero


todavía no ha pasado. Tendemos a usarlo en frases negativas e

interrogativas. En frases negativas puede ser traducido como "sin embargo”,


“aún"’ o “todavía” y en preguntas como “ya”. En contraste con los otros adverbios
de esta lección, “yet” va al final de la frase.

Example: - I haven’t read this book yet


(Todavía no he leído este libro)

 you haven't bought a computer yet.


 i haven't seen my friends yet.
 the quarantine hasn't over yet.
 My dad hasn't found a new job yet.
 Doctors have not found a cure for covid-19 yet.

Example: - Has Mary started her new job yet?

Ans: No, not yet. (No, todavía no).

 Have you called the doctor yet?

 Have the test results arrived yet?

 It is mainly used to ask about experiences.


 We use "ever" in interrogative sentences.

Example:
 Have you ever been to London?
 Have you ever been to the United states?
 Have you ever traveled by train?
 Have you ever cheated in an exam?
 Have you ever been through a similar situation
caused by an illness?

NEVER
 Used to indicate that you
have not had an experience.
 We use "never" in affirmative sentences, but the meaning is negative.

Example:
 I have never been to London.
 I have never been to the United States.
 I have never been traveled by train.
 I have never cheated in an exam.
 I have never been through a similar situation before.
