Learning Never Stops

In our study, we have analysed the responses from 232 students studying in 6 different countries to
get better picture of learning practices adopted by the institutes and their outcomes during this
pandemic. We have conducted the study keeping following parameters at the core:

1) Motivation
2) Engaging
3) Interactive
4) Satisfaction level
5) Effectiveness
6) Span of Attention

Students from following countries have participated in the study:

1) USA
2) India
3) Iran
4) Ireland
5) Singapore
6) UAE

Country-wise Analysis of Responses

We have analysed the responses based on the aforementioned parameters to understand the
outcomes of learning measures taken in different countries during this pandemic.

USA
In USA, institutes of all the students who have participated in the study, are conducting online
classes.
Motivation
Majority of students in USA said that they feel motivated to attend the online classes. Only 14.29%
students were not motivated to attend the online classes.

Interactive Classes
When asked the question about the level of interaction during the online classes, majority of the
students found the classes interactive. Only 14.29% of the students said the classes were less
interactive

Engagement Factor
57.15% (42.86% students gave a rating of 3 and 14.29% students gave a rating of 4) students rated
the engagement factor of the online classes less than 5 which means more than half of the students
found the online classes to be less engaging. Rest of the students find the online classes engaging.

Span of Attention
57.15% students have rated the online classes low for span of attention while only 42.75% students
have high span of attention.

Effectiveness of online classes

57.15% of the students found the classes very effective whereas 28.57% of the students found the
classes less effective. Rest of the students found the classes moderately effective.

Satisfaction Level
All the students from USA are satisfied from the classes as all of them have rated the satisfaction
level more than 5.

Conclusion
All institutes in US whose students participated in the study, were conducting the online classes.
Majority of students were motivated to attend the online classes since they found the classes
effective and interactive. But when it comes to the engagement factor of the online classes, 55.15%
students have rated the online classes to be less engaging which is evident from the low span of
attention of most of the students. Low engagement can be attributed to the difficulties faced by
students during the online classes such as connectivity issues (28.57% students reported this issue)
and difficulty in adapting to the new teaching methods (28.57% students reported this issue). There
is mixed response from the students regarding the effectiveness of online classes where 57.15% of
the students find the classes effective.

However, all the students from the USA are satisfied from the online classes.

India
In India, 88% of the participating students said their institutes are conducting the online classes.
Only 12% of the students said their institutes are not conducting online classes.

Motivation
70.37% students were motivated to attend the online lectures as they have rated it 5 or more than
5. Rest student were less motivated for the online classes.
Interactive Classes
When asked the question about the level of interaction during the online classes, majority of the
students found the classes interactive. Only 7.4% of the students said the classes were not
interactive. 20.37% students reported the classes to be less interactive.

Engagement Factor
50% students rated the engagement factor of the online classes more than 5 which means half of
the students found the online classes to be engaging. 17.59% of the students have reported the
classes to be moderately engaging. 32.41% of the students found the online classes less engaging.

Span of Attention
52.31% students have rated the online classes high (more than 5) for span of attention while 15.27%
students rated the online classes 5 for span of attention. 32.42% students had low span of attention
during the online classes.

Effectiveness of online classes

51.85% of the students found the classes very effective (Rated more than 5) whereas 20.83% of the
students gave the rating of 5. 8.7% of the students found the classes to be ineffective.

Satisfaction Level
10.18% of the students were not satisfied from the online classes whereas 77.31% students were
satisfied.

Conclusion
Majority of Indian students are motivated to attend the online classes since they found the classes
interactive, engaging and effective. In India, online classes are more engaging as compared to US. As
a result, students have longer span of attention as compared to the US. But still 32.41% students
reported the online classes to be less engaging (32.42% students also had low span of attention)
which may be due to the difficulties such as connectivity issue, lack of resources and communication
gap between teachers and students. The aforementioned difficulties may be reason behind low
satisfaction level of some students. However, 77.31% of the students were satisfied from the online
classes.
UAE
In UAE, all the students reported that their institutes were conducting online classes. All the students
were motivated to attend the lecture (all the students rated this parameter more than 5). All the
students have reported that the online classes are interactive, engaging and effective. All the
students were satisfied with the online classes
