organizational i.e. the Chiripal group of industries (fabric division). This structure divides
work to bee done into specific jobs and of the department. It clusters jobs into unit.

Functional departmentation organizes employees based on function or skill set
salespeople and marketers work together in the marketing department, employees
involved in making the company products work in the manufacturing department and
employees involved in designing new products work in the research and development
department. Specific departments very from company to company but are always
designed so employees work with other who share similar skill or function. This type of
organizational structure works best in smaller organizational without too many distinact
product lines. For example if your business manufactures and distributes two different
types of golf ball, it wouldn’t make much sense to divide those two products into
separate departments.

Production process:
The production process of manufacturing denim is as follow :

.
Spining :
When we talk about textiles, spinning is the process of transforming fibres into yarn.
The first steps are preparing the fibres by parallelising and elongating them. The goal is
to take full advantage of the length of the fibres to get durable and resistant yarn.
It starts with the machine known as the ‘bale plucker,’ which picks the cotton fibres off a
row of cotton bales. The fibres are then mixed and cleaned to remove leftover seeds
from the ginning process.
Wraping :
In ball warping 250 to 400 yarn ends are pulled from the creel. The yarns then
passthrough a comb-like device (sometimes called a hack or reed), which keeps each
warp yarnseparate and parallel to its neighboring ends. At intervals of every 1000 or
2000 yards (ormeters), a lease string is placed across the sheet of warp yarns to aid
yarn separation for the
re- beaming operation, which will occur later. The yarns then go through a funnel-
shaped devicecalled a trumpet or condenser, which collapses and condenses the sheet
of yarn into rope form. This device is located at the base of the warper head and
traverses back and forth, guiding thenewly formed rope of yarn onto a log. The rope
must be wound at a constant tension to keep theyarns from tangling
Weaving :
The weaving process interlaces the warp (length-wise indigo dyed yarn)and the filling
(natural-colored cross-wise yarn)producing 100 percent cotton denim in a variety of
weights and styles.
14 page
Finishing :
The final woven fabric, wound on a cloth roll, is taken out from weaving machines at
particular intervals and checked on inspection machines so that any possible weaving
fault can be detected. In this quality control exercise, wherever any fault is seen,
corrective measures are taken then and there only.
The woven Denim Fabrics then goes through various finishing processes, such as
brushing, singeing, washing, impregnation for dressing and drying. Brushing and
singeing eliminate impurities and help to even the surface of denim fabric. Dressing
regulates the hand and rigidity of the fabric while compressive shrinking manages its
dimensional stability. The standard width denim fabrics is then sent for making up. In
this process, the fabric is cut into the desired width according to the size required. The
made- up denim fabric is then thoroughly checked for defects such as weaving defects,
uneven dyeing, bleaching and dyeing defects, oil stains, or patches. After inspection,
the final product is categorized quality-wise. The fault less fabrics are sent to the
packaging department while the defective ones are sent for further corrections .
1. Quality control
In this industry quality control is practiced right from the initial stage of sourcing
raw materials to tahe stage of final finished garment.for textile and apparel
industry product quality is calculated in terms of quality and standerd of fibres,
yarns, fabric construction, colourfastness, surface designs and the final finished
garment products.
