1. INTRODUCTION:
After the completion of the VII Semester the training session starts. The training
should be taken under a registered architect, for 90 working days. The training
session prepares the student to face the professional field. This helps the students to
get knowledge and practice that knowledge in field. It is also helpful to know what
the capabilities of the students are and how they can work.
The team includes two principal architects, Ar. Snehal Suthar and Ar. Bhadri Suthar,
one head architect, 1 senior architect, 1 senior interior designer, 5 junior architects, 1
site engineer and 6 interns.

The office consists of following equipments:
1. 16 computers
2. 1 plotters, 1 printer+ scanners
3. LAN server system

5. AMBIENCE:
As we recently shifted to new office, all the workspaces were designed to be
interactive and visually connected. The office is an open concept plan, arranged in
such a manner that, interns can work in teams and could be easily approached by
employees. As a result, better work is produced. We were also allowed to play music
in controlled volume which also created friendly environment to work.
Residences:
1. SCREEN HOUSE
2. RED BOX
3. PIXEL HOUSE
4. URBAN OASIS
5. AKSHAR I-LAND
Commercial:
1. FARMER’S DEN
2. CAFÉ BATTALION
3. MITTI KE RANG
These above mentioned were some of the projects handled by the office. Majorly
residential and commercial buildings are handled in the office. Some of these
projects are already completed and some are in progress.
7. THE METHOD:
For us, designing is a spiritual journey. One in which energies of the universe and
the spirits of the elements are as much a part of what we work with as wood, stone,
metal and greenery.
Before we begin each project, our team conducts discussions and brain storming
exercises for new ideas and new concepts to be incorporated to resolve the initial
options. Then we work on 3D modeling to understand the spaces, followed by
design development. We always make sure that we guide and co-ordinate with the
group from start to finish. Then we prepare working drawing set followed by, rera
process at certain time intervals. During both the design and construction phases, we
work closely with our client and all connected faculties and make sure that the
project is on course.
8. TIME TAKEN:
During internship, I worked for 66 days in office. Office timings were from 10:00 am
till 7:00 pm. Due to the pandemic, I continued working from home.
9. SPECIAL NARRATION:
Besides work experience in office, the Grid Architects gave me many opportunities to
explore different fields in architecture. We worked with professional architectural
photographers Photographix India for photoshoots of completed projects. They also
arranged passes for interns to attend seminar by Ar. Bimal Patel on Central Vista
Redesign so that we could learn management of big scales projects. We also had an
educational trip to Environmental Sanitation Institute which is designed by Ar. Yatin
Pandya.

Answer the following questions
Q1. In the Institute internship program, faculty members are expected to be
mentors for students. Do you feel that your faculty coordinator served such a
function? Why or why not?
Answer. The faculty coordinator Mr. Gunjan Badjatya has supported me a lot since
the beginning of the internship. He thoroughly guided us with all the rules and
regulations that are to be kept in mind during the internship.
Q2. How well were you able to accomplish the initial goals, tasks and new
skills that were set down in your learning contract?
Answer. Initially I faced some issues while working such as taking more time than
required, but in few days I was able to work efficiently and in a good pace. I learned
some new methods which were useful in improving my time management.
Q3. In what ways were you able to take a new direction or expand beyond
your contract?
Answer. Besides learning about studio culture, I was given plenty of opportunities
such as working with professional architecture photographers, attending seminars,
going on educational trips which I think is beyond the contract.
Answer. Although I learnt a lot about organization culture and practise but, not
getting involved in the designing process of any project felt like a missing goal during
internship. Due to the outbreak of corona virus pandemic; I would not be able to
complete internship duration in office which is also an incomplete goal.
Q6. What has been the most significant accomplishment or satisfying moment of
your internship?
Answer. The most satisfying thing was to work in such a great firm. Another was that
we worked on a presentation drawing which is now published on Archdaily website.
It was a good moment during my internship.
Q7. What did you dislike about the internship? Considering your overall
experience. How would you rate this internship? Give suggestions as to how
your internship experience could have been improved.
Answer. While I had many useful experiences at The Grid Architects, I feel that I still
need to develop my confidence levels with more of working drawings. I would have
enjoyed more time completing more of technical drawings than I did.
I would like to rate the experience 7.
Q9. Would you have like more discussions with your professor concerning your
internship? Was closer supervision needed?
