RE: Black Community Education Summit
Dear Mayor Williams:
Thank you for agreeing to Co-Convene this historic Black Community Education Summit. Your
leadership on this particular issue is paramount to the success of the new State Plan for Youngstown
City Schools and its impact on the Black African Descendant Student. This Summit is designed for
the “collective” Black community to take the lead role in helping Black students achieve socially and
academically.
The Co-Conveners listed on the attached page have committed to the December 4, 2010 Summit.
The Summit will be held at Youngstown State University in the Ohio Room at Kilcawley Center.
Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m., and the program will start promptly at 9 a.m. Only Co-Conveners
will be permitted to participate; all will be notified in advance that this is a “no complaining, no
lamenting, no grandstanding, ego-less” positive-actionable Summit.
An outline of the Strategies of Solutions actionable agenda is being prepared and will be ready for the
Summit. Enclosed is a copy of the new State Plan for Youngstown City Schools, and a copy of
Youngstown City Schools 2010 Report Card. A copy of the new State Teachers’ Contract will be
forwarded as soon as it has been ratified by the Academic Distress Commission and the State
Attorney General.
Again, thank you for your continued support and participation.
Sincerely,

Jimma McWilson
Community Campaign Organizer
