Dear ASIS-friends,

I have got great memories from my 35 years ASIS membership. One very special moment
was the visit to the new Russia in 1992 of the People-to-people/ASIS security delegation
headed by Jeff Burke, former DG NSA, and hosted by Victor Budanov, former GRU general.
The Russian Chapter of ASIS is now chaired by Victor´s son Dmitry Budanov. Russia is
always of special interest from the security point of view.

Now ASIS Russia is inviting a limited number of ASIS members to an international chapter
meeting in Moscow on 15-16 August. This will be a unique opportunity to meet Russian
security professionals and learn about what is going on and the near future in the Republic of
Russia.

Dmitry Budanov has on behalf of ASIS Russia presented the following draft programme:

Departure and/or individual agendas.
Note: ASIS Russia can also assist to organise separate programmes for spouses and
family members.

I am convinced that Dmitry Budanov and the ASIS Russia chapter have done their very best
to provide us with a professional programme combined with Moscow specials. This event will
be special as Eduard Emde, CPP, will be preparing his presidency as the very first non-
American ASIS President. Therefore Eduard Emde has expressed a wish to make the
meeting in Moscow “not too big” and cosy. Hopefully we will as well be welcoming Ray
O´Hara this year’s ASIS President. For me and an handful of old-timers who participated in
the 1992 security delegation it will be a welcome reunion.

I have the pleasure on behalf of Dmitry Budanov and the Russian ASIS chapter to invite a
limited number of ASIS members to register before June 15 to the Moscow meeting.

According to Dmitry Budanov approximately 20 ASIS Russia members will attend. Don´t wait
too long with your registration as this is a rare opportunity. Questions can be forwarded to
Dmitry Budanov, bdmitry.ru@gmail.com or to me wermdalen@gmail.com.

Best ASIS wishes,

Hans Wermdalen CPP
