Vice - Chancellor’s Message
Welcome to Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV), Indore (M.P.)
for admission to programmes of Postgraduate, Graduate, Diploma and
Certificate in various subjects. The University was established in the year
1964 by the Government of Madhya Pradesh as a State Government
University. The University is accredited with A+ grade by NAAC. With a
glorious history of more than fifty years, the University provides an
avenue for unleashing your potential to realize your dreams.
The last two decades have seen substantial changes in higher
education scenario in India. There seems to be an academic revolution in higher education marked
by a paradigm shift in scope and opportunity. Indian education system, considered as one of the
largest of its kind in the world, faces enormous challenges in the new millennium. Devi Ahilya
University, has geared up itself to meet these challenges of higher education and become an
institution that takes a leadership role in promoting new ideas, the spirit of integration of the
global scenario, and cultivation of intellect and culture among its stakeholders.
The university beholds the vision of creating, advancing and disseminating knowledge with
collective wisdom, through value based holistic education. To achieve this vision, we are striving
to excel in both quantitative as well as qualitative aspects of higher education. On one hand the
university has been introducing new professional programmes to meet the industry requirement
of skilled professionals, while on the other university has also been preserving traditional
programs which are essential for knowledge enhancement. Providing inclusive education at
affordable cost to all the segments of society is an essential role that this university has been
playing successfully.
The University is also sensitive to the needs of local community. It caters to educational
needs of wide variety of population ranging from well-developed tier II city, Indore to the
underdeveloped tribal and rural backward districts. University carefully strikes a balance in terms
of programs offered and resources for these extreme cross-sections of society. All the programmes
offered by the university follow the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) with outcome-based
approach. Covid19 pandemic has initiated paradigm shift in teaching-learning process in which
emphasis on online/digital education is greatly envisaged. Fortunately, our University is well
equipped with latest facilities for creation of online teaching material and our IT infrastructure is
modern enough to disseminate it.
I welcome all the students who chose to be part of this premier institution of learning. I
hope that you will feel proud on being associated with us and make us equally proud with your
academic excellence and accomplishments. I wish you a bright future.
Prof. (Dr.) Renu Jain
Vice Chancellor
