VACANCY

Amref Health Africa is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organization (NGO) whose mission
is “to improve the health of people by partnering with and empowering communities and strengthening
health systems”. Amref Health Africa has over 1000 employees throughout Africa with its headquarters
in Nairobi, Kenya. Amref Health Africa has offices in Tanzania, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, and South Africa,
Malawi, Zambia, South Sudan and Senegal and a number of offices in Europe and North America for
fundraising.

Amref Health Africa-Tanzania is largely supported by Multilateral, Bilateral and National donors,
implementing several programmes including HIV/AIDS/TB/Malaria, Reproductive, Maternal, New-born
and Child Health, Water and sanitation, e learning programme and clinical outreach. With the above
background, Amref Health Africa Tanzania has the following vacancy:

Position: IT Officer (Software Developer) (1)


Job Location: Dar es Salaam
Report to: IT Manager

JOB PURPOSE:-
To support system operations and be responsible and accountable for designing, development,
improvement, installation of software and support the smooth running of computer systems within the
limits of requirements, specifications, costs and timelines. Will be supervising the implementation and
maintenance of Organization’s computing needs.

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES/KEY RESULTS AREAS


 Review current system and presenting ideas for system improvements to ensure strong
functionality and optimization
 Work with software development team, MoHCDGEC and PO-RALG to conduct root cause analysis
of issues, review new and existing code and/or perform unit testing
 Responsible for design and development of advanced software programs and Mobile based
applications(Android, iOS and Windows platform)
 Support the operations of Leap mHealth platform and other training platforms
 Creating innovative solutions to meet our organisation needs
 Provide comprehensive support to MoHCDGEC,PO-RALG,LGAs, VEOs and CHWs; achieve
resolution to outstanding problems or issues
 Communicate effectively and professionally in all forms of communication with MoHCDGEC, PO-
RALG, VEOs and CHWs.
 Compile timely, comprehensive and accurate documentation of best practices, challenges,
lessons learn and or reports as requested
 Prepare training manuals and provide training sessions as required
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
 Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Health
Information System.
 Experience: 3 years in information technology
 Good understanding of software technologies and object-oriented approach
 Strong Programming experience and extensive knowledge of Java and the Android SDK
 A working knowledge of web technologies, such as HTML, PHP, CSS and JavaScript, as well as
traditional programs like Java, Visual Basic, .NET, etc.
 A working knowledge of the current Microsoft Windows Desktop, Server, and Network Operating
Systems.
 Knowledge of hardware technology and concepts
 Effective written and verbal communication skills
