Scholarship for Academic Excellence
Nottingham Law School is delighted to offer a number of competitive Dean’s Legal Practice Course
Scholarships for Academic Excellence for eligible courses starting in September 2020.

These prestigious scholarships are available to UK, EU or International students who have received an offer to
study on a eligible course, and are worth up to the value of half the tuition fee. The scholarships will be available
in the form of a tuition fee reduction.

These scholarships will be awarded to the candidates who the awarding committee determines most closely
meet the criteria for the award, which are provided on the next page.

The scholarship decision will be made by the awarding committee and all decisions are final. The scholarship will
be available in the form of a tuition fee reduction, and if you are awarded a scholarship your fee will be adjusted
before enrolment. If you are a part-time student, your fee will be adjusted proportionally at the start of each year
that the scholarship awarded to you will be spread across both years of the course.

How to apply
Application process

Applications must consist of a fully completed scholarship application form, which includes a personal statement that
directly addresses the criteria on the next page.

The awarding committee reserves the right to exclude from consideration any applications that include written statements
which exceed the stated word limit.

Please return your completed scholarship application form and supporting documents to NTU.scholarships@ntu.ac.uk as
soon as possible.

• 15 June 2020, 16:00 GMT (4 pm)

Please email your form to NTU.scholarships@ntu.ac.uk before 16:00 GMT (4 pm) by 15 June 2020.
If we receive your application after the deadline, it will not be considered.

Personal statement
Please provide a statement of a maximum of 400 words addressing criterion one if you wish to apply for a scholarship.

• work and other life experiences which you feel demonstrate your ability to make the most of the LPC.

Terms and Conditions


1. This scheme is only open to applicants who are classed as UK, EU or International for fee purposes. Please note NTIC progression
students are not eligible for a scholarship. Please check our website for details of funding for NTIC students at www.ntu.ac.uk/ntic
2. Applicants are only eligible for consideration of a scholarship award if they have been offered a place on the Legal Practice Course.
3. Students who are sponsored by their employers, government, or funding body (in full or in part) are not eligible to apply for this
scholarship award.
4. Applicants are only eligible to apply for a scholarship if they are due to enrol onto the first year of their course in September 2020.
Students due to enrol onto the second or third year of their part-time course in September 2020 are not eligible to apply.
5. The scholarship deadline is 4 pm GMT on 15 June 2020. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
6. Scholarships of up to a maximum of half the tuition fee are available. The awarding committee may choose to award a part
scholarship.
7. The scholarship will be available in the form of a tuition fee reduction. If you are awarded a scholarship, your fee will be adjusted,
before enrolment.
8. If you are awarded any other scholarship, bursary and / or fee reduction from the University the maximum amount awarded will not
exceed more than half the tuition fee.
9. The scholarship is not transferable and will not be awarded if you choose to defer your entry to a different start date, or if you choose
to transfer to a different course at the University.
10. Applicants will be informed of whether they have (or have not) been awarded a scholarship (and of the value of the scholarship award
if they have been awarded) within three weeks of the application deadline date.
11. The scholarship will only be awarded once an applicant accepts their scholarship offer, accepts and meets the conditions of their
offer, and are eligible to enrol on the Legal Practice Course.
12. Scholarships are competitive and selection is based on the information provided on the scholarship application form. It is, therefore, of
great importance that you give your personal statement careful thought and preparation, and that you refer to the criteria provided.
13. The University’s decision in all matters relating to the scholarship is final.
14. If your scholarship application is successful, you may be asked to appear in online and / or printed University marketing materials.
This may involve providing a student profile and a photograph which may be used to promote the University’s scholarship schemes
and Legal Practice Course.
