The Lockdown Challenge

This is a House event

Up to ten points for each challenge completed + a ten point bonus for completing all
challenges successfully. There is a chance for younger boys to earn five bonus
points in the physical challenge.

An award will be given for the best performance in each category in each challenge
and the boys’ respective house will receive one hundred points.

Total - Max 85 points per boy

The House with the best average per boy wins, but there will be a penalty for each
boy who doesn't enter which could affect the final score

The Seven Challenges

1. Creative Writing

Write a short story (between four hundred and five hundred words) entitled 'The Gift'

2. Public speaking (recording – max of seven points for those who read words
rather than learn them by heart)

Learn a poem and recite (either ‘Invictus’ by William Henley, ‘If’ by Rudyard Kipling
or ‘Sonnet 18’ by William Shakespeare).

Make a three-minute speech entitled 'My hero/heroine is'

3. Performance (recording –between two and five minutes)

Sing your favourite song - with backing track but without background vocals

Complete a recital on a musical instrument

or

Perform a dance - Tik Tok/Bangra/Other?

Perform a Yoga routine

4. Fine Art

Produce a drawing or painting entitled 'Indian wildlife' or 'the Himalayas'

or

Make a sculpture out of recycled house waste entitled 'Sustainability'

5. Photography

Take five photographs that summarise your experience since lockdown.

6. Physical challenge (recording)

1. Complete the Lockdown ‘75’ in two minutes

Class 3 –Non-stop - 25 spot runs(left and right leg run marks 1 count),10 spot
jumps, 10 jumps with leg apart, then 10 squats, and 10 crunches
Class 4 – Non-stop - 15 spot jumps, 15 jumps with leg apart, 15 jumping jacks then
15 squats, and 15 sit ups.
Class 5 –Non-stop - 20 spot jumps, 20 jumps with leg apart, 20 jumping jacks then
15 sit ups.
Class 6 –Non-stop - 20 spot jumps, 20 jumping jacks,15 burpees then 5 press ups,
and 15 Sit ups.
Class 7 - 10 star jumps. 15 press ups, 25 burpees and 25 sit ups
Class 8 - 25 burpees,25 press ups and 25 sit ups.

Any boy from Class 3 to Class 7 who can complete the Class 8 challenge in two
minutes gets five bonus points.
