ABOUT US
Globe Fire Sprinkler Corporation is an independent, privately owned

company that strives to exceed customer expectations, offering top
quality, competitive products, and a high level of customer service.
Since the early 20th century the name GLOBE has been synonymous in supplying quality fire pro-
tection products.
In May of 1988, Mr. Robert C. Worthington, a profes-

sional fire protection engineer, purchased the former
Globe Fire Equipment Company, bringing with him 35
years of experience in the fire sprinkler industry, hav-
ing worked for three other large sprinkler manufactur-
ers in various capacities.
Today the combined business experience of the offi-

cers of Globe totals more than 120 years devoted ex-
clusively to the fire sprinkler industry.
Under Mr. Worthington's leadership, the product line

has been greatly expanded and modernized, and
sales have increased more than 500% since incep-
tion. Globe today is a major manufacturer of sprinklers, valves and associated devices and ships its
products to all corners of the world on a continuing basis. Approximately 50 percent of Globe's net
sales are to overseas customers.
Globe continues to develop new products as the world market demands, and is happy to state that
its relationship with the various approval authorities, such as Underwriters Laboratories Inc, FM Ap-
provals and the Loss Prevention Certification Board (UK), is excellent. Globe has the LPCB (UK)

12 The Contractor shall install an adequate quantity of additional sprinkler heads of the correct
temperature rating. The number will depend on the size of the installation and number of
sprinkler heads likely to be opened. The following figures are the minimum number of
additional sprinkler heads that should be installed:
(a) for systems not exceeding 300 sprinklers, 6 spare heads shall be installed
(b) for systems exceeding 300 sprinklers but not exceeding 1000, 12 spare heads shall
be installed
(c) for systems exceeding 1000 sprinklers, 24 spare heads shall be installed.
13 All components for sprinkler system packages should be from one single manufacturer with
an approved local agent. The Contractor shall maintain a technical representative from the
manufacturer or the local agent on site for the duration of the Contract in order to supervise
the installation. This representative shall issue a certificate upon completion of the Project
stating that the complete system has been installed, tested and commissioned in accordance
with the Project Documentation, the requirements of the NFPA and the Civil Defence
Department.

4.2.2 Sprinkler Heads

4.2.3 Sprinkler System Alarm Devices
1 The system shall be provided with alarm devices consisting of, but not limited to, the items
described in the following clauses.

1 Alarm valves shall be UL listed and FM approved. They shall be check type, with a rubber
faced clapper, designed for use in wet pipe systems for automatic actuation. The alarm valve
may be installed vertically or horizontally with inlet and outlet connection in accordance with
the relevant provisions of ANSI B 16.1.
4.2.5 Basic Trip and Retarding Chamber

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Globe Series GL-QR sprinklers are Listed Quick Response
sprinklers which utilize a 3mm frangible glass bulb as the
thermosensitive operating element. These sprinklers are
available in upright, pendent, and recessed pendent orien-
tations. They are Listed and Approved as Standard Cover-
age sprinklers and are to be installed in accordance with RECESSED PENDENT
the guidelines of the appropriate Installation Standard being
mandated by the AHJ (i.e. NFPA 13; FM 2-0). These sprin-
klers are available in various K-factors, temperatures and UPRIGHT PENDENT

DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

The Globe GL8128, GL8129 and GL8174 Ex-
tended Coverage Horizontal Sidewall Sprinklers
are a low profile yet durable design which utilizes a
3mm frangible glass ampule as the thermosensitive
element. While the sprinkler provides an aesthetically
pleasing appearance, it serves to protect various area
coverages and should be installed in accordance with
NFPA 13. This sprinkler series is available in various
temperature ratings and several finishes to meet many
varying design requirements.
The heart of Globe's Series GL-ECLH sprinkler proven SERIES GL-ECLH/SW
actuating assembly is a hermetically sealed frangi-

in the bulb expands increasing the internal pressure. At
the prescribed temperature the internal pressure within

the glass to shatter. This results in water discharge

DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
The Globe Quick Response Series GL-QR/DRY Pendent Sprinkler is
designed for use in special applications such as freezing environments
and conditions where sediment or foreign materials might accumulate
in ordinary drop nipples.
The Globe Quick Response Series GL-QR/DRY Pendent Sprinkler
utilizes a 3mm frangible glass ampule as the thermosensitive element.
This provides sprinkler operation approximately six times faster than
ordinary sprinklers. At the ampule's rated temperature, the sprinkler
opens releasing the bulb seat, causing the inner tube assembly to
move, allowing the spring assembly to pivot alongside the inner tube.
At this time, water flows through the sprinkler and is distributed by the
deflector in an approved discharge pattern. It can be installed wherever

The heart of Globe's Series GL-QR/DRY sprinkler proven actuating
assembly is a hermetically sealed frangible glass ampule that contains
a precisely measured amount of fluid. When heat is absorbed, the
liquid within the bulb expands increasing the internal pressure. At the
prescribed temperature the internal pressure within the ampule exceeds
the strength of the glass causing the glass to shatter. This results in
water discharge which is distributed in an approved pattern.
