A&E and avoiding it  

- Week 1
 
Health & Safety overview look at current practice   and how it is a necessary part of
every shoot you do. We will look at examples and disuse what are the key H&S
issues arising for the shoot. You will be given piece of work to watch and then you
will be required to complete a risk assessment form, detailing what the H&S issues
would have been and the steps taken to ensure that the shoot was trouble free.  

Ready Steady Go - Week 2

How to prepare for a project, you will look at a treatment for a 5 - 10 min item to be
shown on BBC2 after the water shed, you will see how this document forms the
foundation of the item and how it is developed for use as a discussion document that
you would use to convince the Series Producer that your idea is worthy of
developing. We then use this document to do a draft script and identify the key
elements, contributors and questions needed to make this a rounded and engaging
piece of Television.

Research Academy - Week 3

Following from last week using the skills developed in previous weeks you will be
asked to develop an idea on a given theme. You will use your research to develop a
pitching document - identifying why this is a story that needs to be made. Then you
will develop a rough script that shows how the show would look and the order of the
facts that would be presented and the key contributors and what you would expect
them to say, again referencing your research documents.

 
Location, Location, Location - Week 4

 How to prepare for location shooting, things to do, who to get clearance from.
Chose four different locations and scenarios and get students to go through the
process they will have to find out who to contact to get permissions etc. The
scenarios' will be challenging in different ways that will lead to a lager learning
experience that can be shared and discussed at the end of the day. The locations
will be as listed below work out who to contact names, numbers and e-mail address.
Prepare a risk assessment for the task as well. You will be required to provide
photographs as part of the recce that shows the layout of the location and any
potential problems that might arise.
 
Production 3 session exercises Weeks 5 - 23  
Introduction to the Industry - Week 6 - 8
When you have completed this section you will be able to   Outline the structure of
Broadcast TV in the UK and the associated online content . Describe the function of
the various people involved in the production of broadcast and non broadcast
programmes.

Research -   Week 9 - 11 working individually

In-depth research.   When you have completed this section you will have a sound
knowledge that will help you in the production process in the reminder of you time at
Teesside.   You will need to produce an in-depth research & proposal document for a
programme idea and also supply a risk assessment for the proposal.

WEB Visualisation - Week 12 - 14

Producing content for the web, we look at some examples good and bad and use
this as a basis to develop an idea that you can up load. The short film 3min max -
should be about yourself it should include a creative title page that incorporates your
name also you will include stills and photographs you have taken. This will be up
loaded on to blackboard for reviewing at the end of the day.

360 What's it about - Week 16-18


What is 360 how important is it to have a unique approach for each platform?? We
look at Radio, TV, Interactive, On Demand & Red Button. You will be give a
Interactive element to produce in groups and edit for up loading to a fictitious web
site for Cribs an MTV based reality show that shows you the houses of the rich and
famous - your job is to produce a 3min version of your pad. You will up load your
final piece for assessment and critic on Blackboard
 

360 Project- Week 19-21


Come up with a concept of a 360 approach for a TV show, that has cross promotion
on Red Button and an interactive element. You will produce an overall document &
presentation that states clearly the overall vision of your 360 approach and you will
present your idea and visuals to the group in week 20.
 
 
 
Be On TV Challenge -   Week 22 - 24
Be on TV     is all about getting your face on the telly. There's no catch. Just read the
rules, make your video and upload it to the site.
  Introduce a show :-

Go on, show us your star potential! We'd love to see you introduce any of BBC
Three's programmes, but we'd be extra keen to see a 15 second clip of you
introducing:
